I want to share everyone's excitement, but D&P has to be one of his worst albums. Despite it's success at the time, it has aged like sour milk. I know many of the outtakes already and there's a few good tracks in there for sure, but a D&P super deluxe would've been way, way down my list of desired projects from his estate. I'll check it out obviously, but I'm not sure I'll buy this one. I vote with my wallet. Matty, your dubious taste strikes again! D&P is one of his best albums of the 90s, second probably to Gold. It was Prince's last real hit album and theres a reason it was successful. The singles were all great, especially Gett Off, Cream and Thunder. The title track is a bit corny I guess, but there's quality album cuts like Money Don't Matter 2nite, Strollin, Insatiable and Walk Don't Walk. To say its one of his worst is madness, when stuff like Chaos & Disorder, New Power Soul and The Rainbow Children are practically unlistenable.Really good album if you happen to be in a rare spiritual/give me enlightenment mood though. But that's rare enough. Agree about D&P. Great pop album. Jugead is probably the only "dud" for me.

I don't know, despite the annoying preachiness I think The Rainbow Children is a wonderful album musically and the One Night Alone tour on which he featured it heavily is among his best.

I'd take all three of those Prince albums over D&P in a heartbeat.

When I'm in the mood, they are both fantastic. But the moon and the stars need to align every so often for me to go to listen to his post 2000 stuff other than Musicology, 3121, Planet Earth and Art Official Cage.

I actually really like both of them.

They're not bad by any means IMO, even though Vol. 1 seems to be obliterated in any conversation I come across online.

I *HATED* HNR 1 the first time I heard it and it was absolute carnage on the org when it came out. Never saw the fanbase respond to something so badly. The response seems to have cooled in subsequent years and I've grown to quite like the album. The run of tracks from Hardrocklover / 1000 xs & os / Mr Nelson especially is epic. Love the way they all seague into one another, 1000 xs & os is beautifully hypnotic and Mr Nelson is a total banger! Epic Santana-esque guitar playing!

It never stood out to me as as bad as I'd read, just not instantly memorable but I must check it out again soon.

I think HNR1 is absolute garbage, but HNR2 is indeed a really nice record. By far my favorite post-2000 album is Lotusflow3r though, it's by far the most cohesive (though AOA scores high in that regard as well).

I always get mixed up between Lotus Flower and MPLSound, but I think its Lotus Flower I really like. Is that the really synthy one?

MPLSound is the synthy one.

Guys... I watched Spike Lee's Michael/Prince party stream... and now I can't stop listening to Little Red Corvette. Help.
Also, is the audio in this song supposed to be peaking intentionally or did they just fuck up the remaster? I've heard this song before and I don't remember it sounding so distorted.

The best version of Little Red Corvette I've ever heard was the version he did the last time I saw him in concert about a year before he passed away. It was a re worked, slower version of the song. It was so so cool.
