Elvia wasn't all that - I'd much rather listen to Boney M I don't know about Boney M, but I don't really get the appeal of Elvis. Take away the looks and judge him solely on musical talent, he's really rather average. Queen are the most overrated rock band of all time No. Beyoncé has about four good songs Pretty much. Very overrated. I liked Deju Vu and Telephone (which is more of a Lady Gaga song). Neither John Lennon nor Paul McCartney were good singers This isn't true. Listen to Paul McCartney's vocal on a song like Helter Skelter. And John Lennon is deceptively talented as a singer. He makes it sound easy, but a lot of his songs are actually quite difficult to sing. I'll leave it to HIStoric to take it from here...

Elvis wasn't all that - I'd much rather listen to Boney M - Agree totally, overrated artist like Elvis, yet I love Boney M and they were huge here in New Zealand. All Elvis was good for was abusing flares, rhinestones, eating Cheeseburgers and being unable to write any of his won songs being a prime kept bitch by the Colonel.
Neither John Lennon nor Paul McCartney were good singers - Yes but they were good writers, I am more a Stones guy/Glimmer Twins my self and yes I think Jagger is a hell of a singer, Keef not so much.
The ability to rap doesn't require any musical talent whatsoever - Agree, the old rappers had skills and techniques, new ones are just singing labels who grunt and swear at a drum machine beat.
Queen are the most overrated rock band of all time - Don't agree, Freddie was awesome vocalist and showman, the otehrs maybe, just a backing group and Adam Lambert (Don't get me wrong I love my gay brother representing, his theactricality and all, I would like him more as a performance artist or a drag queen rather than a rocker) is not Freddie Mercury.
Beyoncé has about four good songs - Single Ladies, Crazy in Love, can even name the last two Good points and I would add that 90% of heavy metal is atonal, barely discernable, frenetic, ear destroying rubbish. Most girly pop now is garbage along with Idol/X factor stuff - Clarkson, Gaga, Perry, Swift, etc Rap sucks as well as being talentless, the last two good rappers were Tupac and Biggie. Music has suffered forever with the loss of Michael Jackson, Prince, David Bowie and George Michael Little Richard is the architect, the pioneer, the Goddess and the life giver to modern rock and roll, yet he is severely overlooked, we should be putting this guy on a fucking throne - He is a God. Can I get a WHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Not with any of us, but with most of the general public, Michael Jackson is the most overlooked artist after Little Richard, people need to hear his music, understand his musical force and power and realise he was the greatest that ever lived, yet people can never look past all the tabloid crap about Plastic surgery, his weirdness, his young friends and his effeminate demeanour. Humans can be cruel and this cruelness leads to blindness and ignorance.

He makes it sound easy, but a lot of his songs are actually quite difficult to sing. I'll leave it to HIStoric to take it from here... I don't really know what to think of someone who can listen to the acapella below and go on to insist that they can't sing. That right there should be enough to crush any arguments that they couldn't sing (mind you, George Harrison is on that track alongside them but still!). If you need words however... I can't discuss them too much because I'm not that familiar with discussing the technicalities of vocals, but I will say what I like about both of their vocals to the best of my ability. As someone who has spent hours upon hours listening to recordings of their vocals, I say unequivocally mjjfan810 could not be more wrong. With John Lennon, for me I love how he has this particularly distinct vocal that's capable of delivering such raw, unfiltered emotion. When he sung with such raw aggression, he did so with great certainty that you couldn't help but sing along and feel impassioned about the topic he was singing about. On the next track however, he could be singing with a soothingly calm and higher voice that makes you feel at peace and so happy on the inside... but then you'd have other tracks where his voice could be filled with such pain and anguish. John was really able to portray and deliver these drastically varying emotions through his voice so, so authentically. He really had such a beautiful voice. Paul McCartney on the other hand? That man is a fucking powerhouse of vocals. It's not necessarily just about technical ability too, but how the singer uses their vocals. So even if he had a sheer range that he is capable of but he had this pitch perfect precision when delivering them too. He is able to deliver such grit and aggression when he wants to, but sing with such softness and tenderness too and he picks his moments perfectly - it's hard to comprehend we're listening to the same person on "Mother Nature's Son" and "Monkberry Moon Delight". He knows how to sound amazing and pick the perfect voice for the song, and he makes it seem so effortlessly as well. I've come to really appreciate the experimenting with range he started to really do from the mid-60s onwards, and there were times early on I got him mixed up. I'm in awe of his voice honestly. His vocals have deteriorated in the past decade or so, but it's still very much listenable. I can't blame him because he's not only half way through his 70s, but he also constantly and consistently puts on live, three-hour long shows that have no breaks in them. And when they got together? My God there is nothing in this world quite like it. It's like God himself personally allowed angels to grace your ears with their very presence. The sound of the various Beatles harmonizing together is one of the things that really got me into them in the first place, their voices were perfect for each other and I'm so glad they recognized this too and harmonized a lot.

I don't get the appeal over people like Rihanna, Taylor Swift or Katy Perry. They're just marketable packages, neither I get their success. Kind of the same phenomenon with Britney Spears in the early 2000s.
If Adele will keep using the same formula in her records, she should retire already. She's the safest and most boring act who is hugely successful.
As for the OP's points, I just disagree with the ones about Queen, Lennon and McCartney.

Nicki Minaj is an insult to people's intelligence and music in general, not just rap but I don't think it's an unpopular opinion.

Okay, I'll throw a few out there for shits and giggles:
** I was right all along about Justin Timberlake. He's a hack. I don't know what I was thinking for the two weeks in January when I got caught up in the hyperbole of promotion for his new album. It isn't that good. And neither is the rest of his career. Mediocre talent.
** Invincible IS better than Bad. It just is. Both albums have a handful of songs I don't particularly care for and I will admit that Invincible never quite reaches the heights of pop perfection like Smooth Criminal or Man In The Mirror, but the overall quality of songs on Invincible is higher. I would take Speechless, Unbreakable, Heaven Can Wait, You Rock My World, Butterflies, Whatever Happens and The Lost Children over Bad, Speed Demon, Liberian Girl, Another Part Of Me, Just Good Friends and IJCSLY any day of the week. And twice on a Sunday.
** Modern popstars are all crap. Call me stuck in the past, call me out-of-touch, whatever. They're all shit. Even the better ones (like Lady Gaga for example) aren't a patch on MJ/Janet/Madonna/Prince.

BAD is still a better album even if its sound is considered dated nowadays.

Well, I do know it's an unpopular opinion, hence why I included it in this thread. But it is genuinely how I feel. ** I was right all along about Justin Timberlake. He's a hack.
