She gave an amazing performance. She still has it. That's what happens when an icon performs real iconic music (*cough* Bey *Cough) And good to see Rebbie and Katherine in the audience showing that gorgeous Jackson smile

To be honest, I expected a better choreography, there was a lot of walking and doing nothing... but when she danced.... damn she can still move with 52. She even did the arm movements for If (she didn't do them the past few years because she has had pain in her shoulder while doing the routine). And now people my age who have seen the performance or the pictures with Bruno might be curious about her songs. Throb sounds like a song which came out today. Edit: I liked how they mixed Nasty with If and When We Ooo

I thought that was a great performance from Janet. How cool (and random) to perform Throb!! And with Katherine in the audience too... lol Was heartening to see the love she got from the crowd when she accepted the award. I hate to bring up MJ, as this was about Janet and she deserves this recognition, but I felt quite poignant watching it, as it reminded me of how Michael should still be here, performing and enjoying the fruits of his labour in this way. Still, bravo to Janet - a legend in her own right! She killed it! Like with MJ, the media tried to silence her and bury her career, but the general public have a longer memory than they're given credit for. The rapturous response to Janet at this show makes the whole fallout from the Nipplegate fiasco 14 years ago seem all the more disrespectful, unjustified and downright pathetic. Justin who?

Do we have to start bringing in Beyonce & Justin into things? Can this not just be about janet? Great choice of songs. Not much singing , but in all fairness Janet has never really been about the voice. Like dancingmjsdream said, Throb still sounds current today, as does if. I reckon she may get a bit of renaissance out of this. By the way, whilst we're reliving 80s/90s r&b highlights from the night. Salt 'n' Pepa with En Vogue killed it also

It's pretty telling about today's music scene that the "old", 90s acts (Salt N Pepa, En Vouge, Janet) completely upstaged all the current acts.

As much as I love Throb, bit strange she did an album track.
Would have loved a bit of 'That's The Way Love Goes'

Queen Janet was incredible. So much energy and passion and I love that she did Throb rather than the typical hits medley.
I wish she would tour Europe again.

It was alright. For someone who's in their early 50s, there was some cool choreography here and there, the set was cool and I enjoy the back up dancers but admittedly, I felt like most of the pizazz came from them and I found myself drawn more towards them at times. Her vocals weren't... great to put it one way, but the audio in general felt lacking so I'm not sure if it's the YouTuber fucking with it somehow to avoid copyright strikes. That's what happens when an icon performs real iconic music (*cough* Bey *Cough) Well if we're going to bring up Beyoncé, I can totally recognise that Janet Jackson (along with Madonna) is obviously the icon that Beyoncé would've molded her career after... but I didn't see anything in this performance to exactly shame Beyoncé on.
Y'know it's not like watching an older Michael Jackson dance, then watching a younger Justin Timberlake dance where you can very clearly see the differences in talent and skill. I think Janet Jackson and Beyoncé are both fantastic live performers, but I'd be lying if I said Janet showed anything off that put her at such a level above Beyoncé that you can try and diss her?
It's good to see her get that reaction from the crowd though, especially after how she's been treated this past decade and a bit. I feel social media, and especially the rise of feminism on social media, recognition of 'white privilege' and all that jazz has helped change her image in the public perception.

But yeah on the whole it was alright!

Yeah agree. Performance was ok. Lots of glitz and glam going on around her. Obviously she was lip syncing? She looked great imo and her speach was good. It's the perfect time for her with the whole #metoo, white privilege, neo feminism, the JT backlash, the Beyonce vs MJ debate and a thousand other ideals and values and morals and high horses. The 3 tracks in her medley were perfect. Throb has always been one of my favourites.

I tried azzaabb, I really did, but you can't teach an old dog new tricks.

Doesn't change the fact that there was still a period in 2018 where you not only had his new album on repeat, but your wife said you admitted you 'really liked it'
Never gonna let you forget that my dude mwahaha

Spouses are supposed to stand by you if you commit something heinous, like murder or the purchase of a Justin Timberlake album.
