Yeah, well that was a massive betrayal of trust from the missus. Spouses are supposed to stand by you if you commit something heinous, like murder or the purchase of a Justin Timberlake album. Wait you PURCHASED it?! I thought you were just streaming it! Oh shit.

You might find this useful Truthfully, I really didn't buy it. But I did come dangerously close. We all do things in life we aren't proud of. Some of us worse than others, but I can't change what happened. All I can do is repent and hope that God doesn't judge me too harshly on the other side.

Apologies to everyone who was wanting to discuss Janet. You should know by now I like to derail threads and make them all about me.

Yeah agree. Performance was ok. Lots of glitz and glam going on around her. Obviously she was lip syncing? She looked great imo and her speach was good. It's the perfect time for her with the whole #metoo, white privilege, neo feminism, the JT backlash, the Beyonce vs MJ debate and a thousand other ideals and values and morals and high horses. The 3 tracks in her medley were perfect. Throb has always been one of my favourites. Do you like how I've regressed back to my high horse, JT-hating ways? I tried azzaabb, I really did, but you can't teach an old dog new tricks. It's very disturbing behaviour and we're all concerned for you. 😂 Seriously though, to each their own. I'm not this big JT fan or anything but I still like Man Of The Woods as an album. My like for it isn't shaped by JT as a person, I just like it at face value. I just think too many people in this day and age bring all sorts of politics into how they messure pretty much everything. Admittedly I havent listened to it recently but I like the different styles and sound on it. And for those first few weeks you dug that album too, and if you got some enjoyment from it then thats all that matters ultimately. At the end of the day we don't really know any of these people. We only know what they present to us. Now back to talking about Matty, I mean Janet😂 Peace mate. 😎

It was alright. For someone who's in their early 50s, there was some cool choreography here and there, the set was cool and I enjoy the back up dancers but admittedly, I felt like most of the pizazz came from them and I found myself drawn more towards them at times. Her vocals weren't... great to put it one way, but the audio in general felt lacking so I'm not sure if it's the YouTuber fucking with it somehow to avoid copyright strikes.
But yeah on the whole it was alright!
That's what happens when an icon performs real iconic music (*cough* Bey *Cough) Well if we're going to bring up Beyoncé, I can totally recognise that Janet Jackson (along with Madonna) is obviously the icon that Beyoncé would've molded her career after... but I didn't see anything in this performance to exactly shame Beyoncé on.
Y'know it's not like watching an older Michael Jackson dance, then watching a younger Justin Timberlake dance where you can very clearly see the differences in talent and skill. I think Janet Jackson and Beyoncé are both fantastic live performers, but I'd be lying if I said Janet showed anything off that put her at such a level above Beyoncé that you can try and diss her?
It's good to see her get that reaction from the crowd though, especially after how she's been treated this past decade and a bit. I feel social media, and especially the rise of feminism on social media, recognition of 'white privilege' and all that jazz has helped change her image in the public perception.
In my opinion it all comes back to quality and timeless music, which is where Janet "shames" and I "diss" Beyonce

Is the music industry mostly shitty nowadays that your standards got lower? She was performing a few minutes and could barely hold her breath. I've read some of you over the years giving Michael shit for the way he preformed and looked on the TII rehearsals even if he sang and danced a million times better than her despite his health problems (I'm not just talking what that murderer did to him but the fact that he started to develop artritis.) So I don't get why Janet is praised for an ordinary performance.

Most casual fans who watched TII thought it was flawless, but I think a lot of hardcore fans, including me, could tell he was not alright. I think it's also that we have been preconditioned because he died preparing for those shows. But Janet does still stand out in today's scene. And in my opinion she delivered with this performance.

Probably I'm on the minority who felt MEH 😒 about her performance, it wasn't bad but it wasn't a standout either. And probably the only one who thought WTF with her sweater, Janet has a killer body, why give it no shape with an outfit. Cool, if most people enjoyed her performance, to each their own.

I am with you Snow White. I found the performance boring and I don`t think we are the only one with the impression.

It's music & art so it's all subjective.
Janet Beyonce JT
It's all taste. And it doesn't mean people like Michael any less just because they like another artist. And similarly it doesn't make you his number one fan just because you refuse to like similar artists.

I never gave MJ shit for TII specifically, more that he wasn't capable of performing due to ill health. That doesn't take anything away from the performer he was or who he was as a person, just that in my very honest opinion he wasn't the same due to that ill health and the 2005 court case. People are ripping Janet apart for this performance and her personal appearance anyway. Just like people rip everyone else apart. They take deep pleasure in it apparently.

You said it yourself, Michael was not the same person because of the trial causing him health issues ever since. He was trying to have his life back, trying to support his children but all the people who took advantage of him, plus his health problems took a toll on him, yet some people, not referring to you aazzaabb specifically gave him shit over the years and here they are praising Janet for a performance that wasn't impressive at all which I don't get. I don't think saying her sweater was unflattering to her figure was ripping her apart. If people have read me over the years, they may be aware I try to conduct myself with civility, not attacking people for the sake of doing so.
