She always seemed out there to me. In the early 1990s she accused her parents of sexually molesting her as a child, but her whole family denied it and she made claims that were impossible (such as remembering that she was molested when she was only six months old). She claimed repressed memories. They talk about that here from 3:05: And she also trashed MJ. So I am not feeling sorry for her.

It's actually funny after Trump called her to congratulate her on the show's success.
Again, as with Spacey, I feel for the shows other employees and Co stars who are impacted.

I've never liked Roseanne, I realized she was horrible person even back in the 90s but finding out she's a scumbag racist is a new low. Good for ABC that punished her despicable behavior but the rest of the cast members didn't deserve it. I just can wish them the best of luck in the future.

Stupid bitch, coming abck to TV was a mistake. A show from the 1980s that celebrates working class dolts who will never amount to anything more than beer swilling, gun shooting slobs who work in unskilled labour if at all. the world has moved on from these people. Fuck Trump, right wing Nazi piece of shit. I hope he is arrested and impeached for his crimes to humanity or Jong Un takes him out.
She looks more like an ape than anyone I know. Even sadder is she is not a wasp, she is a Jew. Generally I find Jews are open minded and liberal, yet there are clearly exceptions. Good riddance to bad rubbish

It was a reboot nobody really asked for and contradicted a lot of what made the original popular (although I was never a big fan of her or her show). She's been off her rocker for awhile and this isn't the first time she's said some stupid BS. I'm more surprised how quick the fallout has been
But I welcome it LOL

On a more serious side note, I feel sorry for the rest of the cast and crew working on that show. All of them have just lost their jobs because of that racist twat.

Seems a bit of an overreaction to me. Was her tweet ill-advised and smacking of racism? Yes. But I don't think she deserved to lose her livelihood over it, nor did the hundreds of people who make up the cast and crew on the show.
I hate how politically correct this world is forced to be in the social media age. Some people have offensive, ugly opinions, that's life.

I hate how politically correct this world is forced to be in the social media age. Some people have offensive, ugly opinions, that's life. Yeah no, I have to disagree here. This isn't about being 'politically correct', it's about not spouting your incredibly racist opinions to the masses and expecting there to be zero repercussions as a result. Yes, it is life that some people have ugly opinions - but does that mean we as a society just have to stand by and allow it? No!
If you went to the supermarket tomorrow and saw a black person being called an ape by a white person, would you just walk on like nothing happened, or would you speak up? I hope it would be the latter, and that's exactly what ABC did in this situation. Being the main star of a primetime television show named after her, in the eyes of many she is a public representation of the ABC network. By her comparing an African American to apes and ABC doing nothing, to many that would represent that ABC has no issue with it. By standing up, publicly denouncing her and cancelling the very thing that brings her household recognition, ABC are saying they do not tolerate their employees being publicly racist. No different than other companies distancing themselves from employees/spokespersons for similarly despicable behavior.
There is the matter of the rest of the cast and crew, and like you I too wish they didn't have to suffer from this. Many people wonder why they didn't just continue the show on without her but I think the fact the show is so intricately linked to her is a problem. We're not only talking about a show that centers around her, but was also directly named after her AND has her as the direct original creator too. Therefore I suspect there may be something contractual that will always tie the show financially to her, e.g. she might continue to get syndication royalties from subsequently produced episodes - even those without her involvement. I really do feel sorry for the cast and crew, I hope ABC help them out and given the typical short nature of television contracts, I also really hope many of them find work quickly.
Roseanne on the other hand completely deserved what's coming to her. 'That's life' just doesn't cut it in my opinion. We as a society should not idly stand by when we see blatant racism being spouted out to the masses.

I agree we shouldn't idly stand by and allow blatant racism to be spouted from public figures, but it's about whether ABC's response was appropriate. It was an offensive tweet, that's all. At most, they should've pulled her up on it and given her a warning, but ultimately allowed the show to continue, if only for the sake of the rest of the cast and crew, who do not deserve to lose their jobs over something as trivial as a tweet. She didn't murder or rape anyone or use her Twitter account to give a hate speech. It was an offensive, unfunny joke, which wouldn't have become international news if it weren't for ABC's response.

From what I've read, although it's her worst, this wasn't her first controversial tweet and she's had quite a few recently. When it comes to firing her vs ending the show, I think of the point I mentioned of her being so intricately linked to the show itself is a big factor. If she was just another character in your normal show, she probably would've just been fired.
She didn't murder or rape anyone or use her Twitter account to give a hate speech. It was an offensive, unfunny joke, which wouldn't have become international news if it weren't for ABC's response. In what world is straight up comparing a black person to an ape the way she did a joke? I'm not someone who's easily offended when it comes to jokes either, but what she tweeted wasn't a joke - it was blatant racism.

I agree with the broader point MattyJam is making here. Their are people in the world who are simply vulgar, not very nice and ignorant etc. Their are tons of people losing their jobs over a throwaway ignorant comment.
The other thing I'll never understand is the way people online take pleasure in calling these people every name under the sun. I mean, there's a certain amount of ignorance running through you too if you fail to understand that people's behaviour and personality stems from a lifetimes worth of conditioning, life experience and how they were treated themselves.
People need to be compassionate and understanding towards others. All ABC are doing here is throwing this person under the bus for fair of a backlash/soical network warfare.
Make no mistake, ABC aren't doing this because their offended by Roseanne Barr. ABC are doing this because their looking after ABC.

I reserve my compassion for the black people she offended. Calling black people apes is highly offensive and racist and has a whole history behind it.
I thought Rosanne was an adult who is responsible for her actions and comments.
I feel sorry for all the people who lose their job because of her, but not for her.

Did she call all black people apes or just one dude she didn't like? Take all the moral high ground you want, at the end of the day she didn't murder or rape anyone. Black people throw racism at white people too. But everyone is still alive. And also lets drop people like Eddie Murphy and Chris Rock who have spouted racist comments over the years. I reserve my compassion for the people who lost their jobs.
