Didn't realize this was the bar we held ourselves to. I've slept on this issue now, and you know I'm just going to be honest. I don't feel it's the worst thing in the world. She's fired, the show is cancelled and they've also pulled all the re-runs of the old series. She -Roseanne Barr- seems to be a person with a lot of issues. I don't agree with what she said but people online live for this shit and next week they'll be tearing down someone else. I don't know, I'm Irish, I have a thicker skin perhaps. Black people in America deal with a lot of shit I'm just not sure this is one of those times. Something like this gets blown up online and American TV and creates a whole lot of anger and hate. America are losing their shit as always. Should people be offended? Yes. Should they want to murder her for what she said? Probably not. Shame on her for what she said though. It's a bit fucked up that a person with that much responsibility would tweet something like that. Her career is pretty much over for it. People were offended and outraged but for the most part, laughing about it. She said something stupid and offensive and now she has to deal with the consequences

Yes it sucks that others lost their jobs, but the network jumped in a car with someone who has been known for years to be offensive, moronic, and mentally unhinged. ABC is owned by Disney and it's a corporation. They can't deal with the publicity nightmare and sponsors dropping out. Not only that, people such as writers and some castmembers were quitting.
But then again like I said. You act like a prick, you deal with the results
I didn't like the original show and definitely didn't like Roseanne after her rant about Michael in '94

I'm not a fan of the show, I never really got it myself but the new season was pretty big. I agree with SomeBlackGuy on Youtube. I share his perspective on it. On the other hand Wendy Williams gets paid to act like a prick. Anyways, I've made my point now so I'll leave it at that.

Of course it did, the original show was HUGE here in the US (I do remember the last season being a complete dumpster fire) I checked that guy's videos out........I'm going to continue ignoring him lol Wendy Williams.....nobody has taken her seriously since she started the rumor about Tupac getting raped in jail in 1995. America has a lot of morons on TV lol

What did she say about MJ? She called him a creep, a child molester and that Neverland was his excuse to molest kids. This was during the '93 case

Don't really get the people in this thread defending her. She made a racist comment and the company she works for decided to cancel her show. Actions have consequences and that's all there is to it. This whole "I wish the world wasn't so politically correct" discussion doesn't really need to be brought up here as it's not relevant in this case. She was racist.

I hear you're a raaaaaaacist now Fr. Crilly Colm: I hear you're a racist now, Father? Should we all be racist now? What's the Church's position? I'm so busy down on the farm I won't have much time for the ol' racism. Father Ted: What? Mrs. Carberry: [wildly gesticulating] Good for you, Father! Good for you! Somebody finally had the guts to stand up and say it! They come over here, after our jobs and our women, fecking Greeks! Colm: It's not the Greeks, it's the Chinese he's after! Father Ted: I'm not after the Chinese! I'm not a racist! Mrs. Carberry: I don't care so long as I can have a go at the Greeks! They're the ones who invented gayness! π

On the other side of the coin aazzaabb's comment about being Irish is true. Everytime some one insults or even questions the Black Race, they get fired and hounded through the media. Yet if a white person gets insulted nothing happens. Blacks will use the "Slavery/Jim Crow" argument everytime, which is fine because that stuff did happen and it was reprehensible.
But I also have some significant amount of Irish ancestry in me and I know for a fact they were the butt of jokes as drunks, not very bright, fat, violent and sexually immoral people obsessed with potatoes and beer. In the 1800s many poor Irish fled their homeland after the Potato Famine (1845 - 49 An Gorta Morr) and went to the USA, Australia and NZ amongst every countries. They were mainly run by a British (Namely English Anglican) elite and as Celtic and Roman Catholic they were seen as the underclass good old for manual labour and servitude. Open discrimination against Irish Catholics was common until recently and we have only had respect since the Celtic Tiger miracle of the 1990s. Yet stereotypes of dumb fat Irishmen still abound (Peter Griffin, Mike from Mike and Molly) and we are still seen as violent, drunk, fat and likely to be bigotted and racist, yet Ireland is multicultural and lacks all the issues of the rest of the EU.
Yet jokes about the latest Irish invention, how dumb the Irish are, leprechauns, beer and clovers do not make me angry enough to start rioting and a group called ILM (Irish Lives Matter) and I don't see Bridget Shannon O'Malley place through the ghetto. That would make people laugh at us and tell us how ridiculous we are being, yet BLM no one laughs and people get angry.
Yet my Maori side, we are known for claiming land, being violent, getting benefits and being in prison or obsessed with Methamphetamine and Dope. Maoris forever scream racism and have a board where they receive money for their stolen land and their disadvantage, yet I am yet to hear of an Irishman called Patrick O'Kelly complain about the way his ancetsors were treated in 1877 when they were banned from school for not being Protestant or having relief denied to them in 1847 in County Limmerick as they refused to become Anglican.
Maybe all our angry sistas and black militants may want to know that some million Irish died from starving to death in the potato famine in 1848 yet not one slave starved to death as their owners knew hungry slaves did not work, but white Irishmen were worth nothing alive to their white English Landlords, as late as 1899 there were Irish living as serfs on estates held by absent English landlords high off the proceeds of Celtic labour, yet we embrace our English friends (MattyJam) like brothers now.
Blacks and every other angry minority group of colour need to move on and forget the past. Roseanne opened her mouth and sdaid some dumb shit, yet had this woman been white, it would not made a mention, yet this woman who looks more Mexican or Mulatto than black gets all hot under the collar and heads roll again.

And this stuff is so hypocritical, everytime a public figure says something bad about a minority, it is international news and heads roll, yet go to the net and there is heaps of racist shit there. Sites like World Class Hip hop and Really Ghetto.com that ridicule poor inner city black people and the amount of racist videos on Youtube showing Black people flipping out and then all sorts of racist comments that would make your blood boil.
A racist double standard, racism in public is bad, but in private or as a keyboard warrior, it gets a free pass. Plus with public figures like Donald Trump, who has done nothing but insult people of colour his whole life, he gets away with it, by talking about shithole countries and Hispanics being murderers and drug pushers. How come no one has fired him or calling for that?

Thank you brother Triumph! You speak some truth.
At the end of the day we're only all human beings. Instead of condemning people to the gallows for saying uneducated stupid things, we need to be sitting down and having conversations with one another.
Peace out.

It's not a contest of who got it worse, triumph. At least that's how your posts came across to me. Racism is an abhorrent and idiotic act that must be condemned no matter from where it comes from. What this woman did wss blatantly racist and deserved the consequences she got.

I don't think anyone here is saying other people being racist is okay. I don't really see what that has to do with this specific case of someone being racist and being punished for it, though? You're complaining that people aren't being punished for it whilst trying to defend someone who has been. Doesn't really make much sense to me.
