That and any forum where they've got the begging bowl out. Yeah, a lot of popular forums do that now. People shouldn't have to pay to express their opinion online, totally agree. This board is free to run, but if I ever made the decision to upgrade, the cost would be entirely on me. You can't start a forum and then expect the members to pay to use it. Seems a little absurd to me. It's more the context of celebrities I've got in mind, especially those built around deceased ones. A ton of forums have gradually disappeared since Michael died and I believe a major factor in that has been the dominance of social media. MJ fans have pretty much either left the online scene (loads of posters have!) or they've evolved past forums owned by someone who has a lot of rules and even puts the begging bowl out too often. No surprise that social media is where the remainder of online fans have gone and it will be free forums that will be left. Safe to say the heyday of fan forums is long gone for us. Another factor for the decline is fans would rather listen to podcasts, YT videos and even read what books there are. It's been years since I've put out lots of free information and that's by choice. There's still lots to discover about Michael - for example, there's a rarely known history regarding his tap dancing nobody talks about. In short, there's really no incentive to put stuff like this out - not in fan forums anyway. Let me say that I definitely do NOT miss running a forum! Massively, massively thankless task, especially when we were paying for it ourselves without having a large wage. It's really a young person's game, I think. Yet the standard of discussion about MJ in general is nowhere near the standard of the "old days". There's still lots of info out there waiting to be picked up, believe me.

Well, also, it's not easy running a forum about a guy who is no longer alive. That in itself brings its own challenges. Even massive fan forums like prince.org have seen a dramatic decline in activity since it became a site about a posthumous artist. This site is just sort of here for those who want to use it, I don't stress about it too much. If people stop posting, or would rather discuss MJ on social media then that's up to them. I see no harm in keeping this forum open for those who like doing it the old fashioned way.

There's no way around that long term and anything else is really short term unless an owner has loads of money to put in themselves. MyMJJF could easily be around for the next 20 years. If I were you, I'd keep it the way it is and never upgrade to a version you or members would have to pay for. I wouldn't be at all surprised if you will have twice the membership in five years time than you do now. Win-win for your forum, really.

The most frustrating part is more than 3/4 of the people who register don't make one single post. Never understood why these people join tbh.

There was a shooting very close to where I live. 6 died, including a 5 yr old. The gunman shot himself after opening fire on random people. Apparently it's the first shooting of this kind in Britain for 11yrs. You hear about this shit in the news, you never think it's going to happen where you live.
How anybody can shoot a 5yr old is just beyond me. There really are no words. πͺ

Jake Davison has been named as the shooter and, in addition to those he shot dead, there's a number of people injured in hospital. Including a local Councillor. This is the first shooting of its kind anywhere in the UK Including Northern Ireland since 2010. I believe police will be releasing a tineline of events later this morning. Very sad, indeed. Probably will never know why.

There must be something very wrong with the psychological assessment process and background check.

Apparently the killers parents had been begging mental health services to assess him and they were told they were too short staffed. His father even told them that his son shouldn't be allowed access to a gun, but nobody listened. He killed his mother who had just completed cancer treatment and then four random strangers. The media got it wrong, it was a 3yr old, not 5yr old and her father that were among the victims.

To make it worse, his gun licence had been taken off him last year after police investigated assault allegations against him. Unfortunately, his licence was returned to him just last month. Lots of questions are currently being asked about this in the UK as we speak.

*climbs out of the wreckage*
Whew... computer died on Sunday night. Several days and nights of troubleshooting and blue screens of death and even a full drive wipe later, I finally... FINALLY have it working again... right after I bought parts for a new build lol. Ah well... seeing how I managed to snag a graphics card it was probably good to get new parts anyway.
