You give one point of view. I calmly give another. You bow out. How do normal conversations go with you? I fully get other people's opinion on this. I was just answering Innuendo's point on a lot of money being spent and is it worth it? ?? I responded to everything you said. I took the 'I'll bow out' comment as you throwing a strop! Apologies if I read it wrong

Nobody has said we should stop spending money. This is just more hand waving of concerns by responding to points nobody made. I do think it's valid to a feel a certain way about so much money being spent on this during the current times, and it's not really an issue to be dismissed because money is spent on other things. I don't think comparing money being spent on the monarchy to buying a footballer is really a valid comparison at all. Very surface level argument when it comes to the issues of money being spent when it comes to the royals. Unlikely to agree with most people here as I do not hold the same opinions of the monarchy most here seem to. I'll probably check out of convos about them on here now as it really isn't productive. On the contrary, a generalised wide open statement was made vis a vis the cost of living which opened the door to pointing out various forms of obscene spending. Both Governmental and non-Governmental spending. If its obscene for the UK Government to spend millions on the Queen's State Funeral, then the same holds true for all non-UK Government spending. Governments do not stop spending huge sums on various events because some citizens are struggling financially. Non-government spending isn't conditional on people struggling financially either. Given that poverty has always existed in Human History, when do you propose it's OK for Governments and organisations to spend "obscene" amounts of money? Thats a serious question. This is not an either/or situation = False Dilemma Fallacy. Both things can be done at once. In fact, the UK Government has long had a plan in place for the Queen's State Funeral. Meaning money has not been siphoned off from a budget for education, health and so on to pay for it. So, both things can be done concurrently. Government finances does not really work like a household even though many think it does. I guess I was talking about something slightly different than what the original point made was, my bad. I still have not so positive feelings about it despite what you've said but that's not gonna change if we're being honest lol.

I personally never expect debate or discussion to change someone's views. Indeed, it's actually rare for people to do that which is well documented. Lurkers are much more likely to be open to that compared to those who post on online forums. But I like to debate to keep the mind sharp!

My son gets hysterical when he gets a splinter, so anyways, I was out gardening the other day and got the tiniest of splinters stuck in my thumb. Went to the missus with a pair of tweezers to show my boy that it doesn't hurt but it was stuck right under the skin and she had to pierce my thumb so it bled to get it out. Suffice to say, my sons more frightened of having his splinters taken out than ever.

Has anyone else never heard of Megan Thee Stallion? You like Megan Thee Stallion? Absolutely not. I had never heard of her, but she was in a TV show I'm watching and it was a big deal. Apparently.

And she used to release quality projects before she blew up so it’s not a lack of talent, she’s just lazy like most of her peers in the hip hop industry. And yeah, she’s a big deal in the US, has a Grammy or three. 🤷🏽♀️

A talented artist or group gets signed and the industry remoulds them and waters them down into a generic novelty act. It’s become more about being a celebrity than an artist. Or they’ll take a foreign artist or group and westernise them to the point where their completely unrecognisable from who they are.

She started out proper country, then she got signed and the record label made her Country. Then she started having hits and she became mainstream country then after a while she started recording country and by the end she was pigeon holed as country. I've had a drink.
