I am seriously starting to think about whether I should sell my dollars, because I see the US go down in this spiral of self-hate and a self-hating nation has no future IMO. Putin and China must be grinning from ear-to-ear these days, watching America self-destruct. Leftist universities & media teaching kids and young people to hate their own country, traditions, holidays etc. For example, on this July 4th, I have seen media, celebrities and lefties attack the holiday as "white supremacist". Everything is these day, it seems. Interestingly it wasn't white supremacist 9 years ago:
This is just one example, but I have seen other tweets (one from Madonna), op-eds with this sentiment. (Again July 4 wasn't racist and white supremacist in the past, now all of a sudden apparently it is.) There are other similar sentiments expressed about the national anthem, the flag - everything that represents America. How is throwing out the baby with the water the solution? National self-hate only weakens the country, which only benefits Russia and China, but certainly not the American people, whether they are black or white.

So Formula One drivers decided to take the knee before the race today, except for 5 drivers who all expressed support for the anti-racism fight, but explained their reasons for not taking the knee. (IMO, in an European context this is actually a very awkward gesture and also rather USA-centric). But of course, you can't have your own opinions or own ways of showing support for the movement, because if you do not conform, you are immediately getting a label, this time it is "racist" as you can see in his comments. Even though he expressed support for the anti-racism initiative. Just not the way others wanted to force on him. This is how "tolerant" this whole "movement" is. "Do what we say, and how we say or else you are getting the label."

At least they arent blaming the brits for american independence😁. Re kapernick.putting aside opinions on taking the knee its Amazing how he got sacked etc for taking the knee now if you dont do it you get attacked.has he had an apology, got a contract again.its weird how things have gone full circle.why does something suddenly change like it has. Personally i think the rased fist ala 1968 is far more powerfull. |

Not even Orwell could have imagined this nonsense. They are constantly moving the goalpost. So far it was "sex is real, gender is not". Now biological sex is under attack too. And they use disorders to support this BS. Intersex is a disorder, just like trans is a disorder - one physical, the other mental. Why make disorders the standard? It is like saying "some people are born without limbs, so it is a myth that humans have two arms, and two legs". What a fallacious argument!

1984 was like a Disney fairytale compared to what’s actually happening. What I can’t understand is why the people doing all the firing are actually going along with this bizarre new-normal-psychobabble crap that changes on a daily basis?! Why are people being fired? It’s sort of like the ultimate punishment is being dished out as a revenge for having “the wrong” opinion. Where and when does this absolute nonsense end?!! |

Good thread about cancel culture.
I have seen people tweet about that open letter by Rowling and others this week where they stand against cancel culture and for free speech saying that "they are just whining because people just express their free speech right to disagree with them". I'm sure people tweeting them in disagreement is not what they mean by cancel culture. It's the "let's get them fired", "let's get them ousted from society" mentality that's cancel culture. For example, in Rowling's case they tried to pressure publishers to fire her. They even managed to get a lesser known writer fired by their publisher just for tweeting "I stand with JK Rowling".
It's fine to disagree with someone. Tweet at them all you want, refute their ideas, show how they are wrong. That's not cancel culture, that's how a healthy debate would look like. Even just tweeting "fuck you" at them is not cancel culture. Cancel culture is what you see in the opening post of the above thread. Not debating people, but simply silencing them by getting them fired, deplatforming them etc. That's authoritarianism.
Actually I know about MJ haters doing this to MJ fans as well. I know one of the writers of VindicateMJ was so heavily harassed by haters that she almost lost her job. They called her employer telling them she's "supporting pedophiles" online etc and and she should be fired. I think she actually faced disciplinary meetings, where she eventually defended herself, but this is what cancel culture is (and this was actually years before cancel culture was as mainstream as it is today).
It's also a part of cancel culture how the mainstream media deplatformed any defense of MJ regarding LN. How they just picked a side and they didn't even allow any opposing view to be published.
Once the US was famous for a much broader freedom of speech than Europe. In Europe you have certain limits to free speech. In Germany you are not allowed to praise Hitler and the nazis for obvious historical reasons. Here in Hungary you are not allowed to walk around either with a swastika or a communist red star on your T-shirt. Both are considered "banned authoritarian symbols". I remember a neonazi website here operated from an US server because freedom of speech was much broader in the USA. Of course, I don't agree with any such websites, I just mention it to show that the US used to be the most liberal in free speech. People seemed to understand just because someone has the right to publish an abhorrent opinion, it doesn't mean that idea is officially embraced or anything.
Probably technically the same laws are still in place in the USA, but I wonder for how long. Because "woke cancel culture" obviously wants to restrict free speech and to an extent that is way beyond European laws as well. They want to call someone stating a biological fact (like biological sex is real) "hate speech". If you have the opinion it is not a good idea to give puberty blockers and hormones to children that's "hate speech" too. If you don't think biological males should be allowed to compete with biological women, that's "hate speech" too. There's no room for a healthy discussion or debate, they just seek to label, silence and deplatform anyone who is not on board with any woke agenda. At the end of this it's an Orwellian world.
