i love the slow jams on the album.
the only uptempo i can get with is "unbreakable. otherwise they stank IMO and sound like Broke TImberland and ginuwine left overs from the "Pony"era and So Anixous"
i only like threaten the way it was done in "this is it" with thriller as the basis.
its not running with prime and Peak MJ at all.
had he had a whole slow jams album then it would be a modern classic IMO.

Could the people who said Invincible deserves the criticism it gets, please elaborate, because some of us can not see why, with epic songs like You Rock My World, Break of Dawn, Speechless, Butterflies, Nothing else matters and Unbreakable amongst others.

You're right, we could do with an Invincible thread. P.S. What bonus track version do you have where he covered Metallica?

Sorry not familiar with Metallica, I don;t listen to metal music. There is no song on Invincible called Nothing Else Matters. It is however, a very famous Metallica song.

I am so sorry, I do not have an encyclopaedic knowledge of MJ songs in front of me, I do not have lists of songs taped to my computer. The song I am referring to is the one with all the Carlos Santana guitar in it.
Excuse me I am not a doctorate holder in Jacksocology

Let's have it out once and for all. Is it underrated or does it deserve the criticism it gets? It's the album where Michael had total control. I love it (I really do) and most of the demos of that era (Escaaaape! Chicago!) Michael only developed as an artist, and this was his most artistic album so far. It does "digital music" absolutely right. It's a sonic blast from start to finish. It needs more love. It'll take time but we'll all love it. No, its critics had shitty points against it. Its Rolling Stone review is one of the worst reviews I've read. Other reviews only used Wacko Jacko against the album. It didn't deserve that, especially if you consider just HOW hard Michael worked on that thing. It's just an artistic expression of Michael, the indicator of which was BOTDF. If you don't like it then don't blame Michael, blame what the world did to him. He don't sing it if he don't mean it. Please listen to it on the MOV if you haven't already. It's a stellar album. Edit: TL;DR It's an album for fans. It would have been a total comeback if Sony did their damn job. There were going to be many videos but Sony denied most of the songs in Michael's face and we only got YRMW and Cry - which Michael chose not to appear in. It's not bad and definitely underrated. Edit 2: *definitely underrated

Just look at the writing credits for this album - way too many cooks in the kitchen.

I was very biased when I said what I did. I don't know man, honestly I like the album and most of the reviews were blunt. But wasn't Michael very generous when it came to credits? I mean, he contributed to tracks and then wouldn't take the credit for it. But he'd give it like a man. I support he took a lot of advice and credited the advisors for it. No, I'm not saying he wrote the entire album, just that I believe at the end of the day it is his.

I agree. Michael could've been brave and went all-out, exploring slow jams, cuz dude Heaven Can Wait is stirring! He had the pressure of coming out with a comeback album, so I guess the ubiquitous uptempo songs had to be there. As for him not being in his peak, well, we couldn't do anything and still cannot. It's just nature. Some great uptempo still - 2000 Watts, Privacy, Threatened (it also serves as a fitting end to Invincible, the whole album's like "Oh you don't like that? I'm steady laughin'!"), Unbreakable. It looks messy as a whole but rather impressive in parts.

Songs that sound like other peoples songs sung by Michael Jackson. Poor production (IMO) making it the least enjoyable album to listen to. Way Too long. The Most "Motown" album of his adult career, whereby it feels there is no connection between a lot of the songs, and just sounded like he was recording songs because he was told they would be hits. Tried too hard to follow the trend of what sounded fresh, when MJ always was the one who created the trend. Also Nothing Else Matters made me laugh.
