Y'all wanna see some media hysteria? Here's what happens when we finally get our first (and so far only? I think?) confirmed case here in New Zealand:
But it doesn't surprise me. That's our biggest newspaper, but they've been progressively turning more tabloidy and clickbait-y over the last few years. It's only in their nature at this point to stir up hysteria so they can make a few measy bucks 😒
Sadly it seems to have got to some of the public. I saw on social media and the news that there were long queues at many supermarkets up and down the country. Not every country though - from what I read, there were still supermarkets that were fine and acting like it was a normal Saturday for them, but at the same time many were running out of stock of the essentials.
I'm not saying don't report on it, that you don't need to stress that we need to make sure everyone's doing proper hygiene standards, all I'm saying is for gods sake be sensible about it and don't start shit!!!
That's nothing man THIS is hysteria... youtu.be/3dm_5qWWDV8

Makes me laugh how everyones buying up masks. The experts keep saying the only ppl who should wear them is if you already have a cough etc so you dont splatter germs on people. One of the W.H.O drs said on tv. "Why do people think wearing abit of cotton over their mouth is miraculously going to stop them catching something"

It’s not a natural virus. It’s man made. Hence made to kill. The early strains are not the ones to be afraid of. It’s the ones who mutate and adapt. Just like the flu. The longer the pathogen survives and adapts the more fatal it will become. Worst case scenario is vaccine is tested on non sick people and instead of providing immunity or lessen symptoms it has the reaction oxygen does to a fire. Just remember gentlemen AIDS was polo vaccine used in Africa that went wrong. Make sure to have 10 gallons of clean water another 4 to 5 gallons of electrolytes. 2 big bottles of Tylenol and ibuprofen. A first aid kit. A gun with 200 rounds. Dry food goods for 6 weeks. Medication for 60 days. Avoid city’s and public transit. This shit will die out in 180 days or less. Best case. Worst case scenario we’re fucked.

Everything I've read points to that anyway. Ironically, I have MJ to thank for my interest in AIDS, due to Gone Too Soon! Decisions regarding Patrick's Day Parades/events to be made here this week. I haven't been to a parade since the 90s.

The longer the pathogen survives and adapts the more fatal it will become. Actually I read that the longer it survives the milder it probably will get. Despite of what we might see in movies, in real life usually viruses don't mutate to become more fatal, but to the opposite. (It's not in the interest of a virus to kill its host.) The only exception was SARS according to this article. The article also said, the coronavirus is probably here to stay, but we are going to learn to live with it, just like we live with the flu. And if it was man-made designed to kill then I would expect it to be more deadly. Something like the plague.

It beggars belief that the Chinese didn't learn from SARS and continued on with their live meat markets, run by literal bat eating morons. Fuck you China. You suck. If I were Trump, I would've nuked your asses in early December.

I'm officially shitting myself now tbh If it makes you feel any better, if you do ever catch it, you have an extremely low chance of dying (unless you're elderly, which I know you're not hah).
These are the current mortality statistics, based off those officially published so far.
So if you catch it, seems like you're just in for a bad flu for a few weeks. Not desirable obviously, but it could be far worse I imagine.
