Ashamed it took me so long to watch this. It's absolutely brilliant. The bits about the photos of his wife and dogs actually had a lump in my throat emerge.
Michael, Quincy and Bruce working together is such a blessing for this universe. It's so interesting without getting overly technical. I could listen to Bruce or Quincy talk all day.
I hope Thriller 40 does Bruce justice.

Marcos is the protagonist of this lovely and moving short film called Dear Michael on his journey as a Michael Jackson fan and how Michael inspired him to become a movie director.
Even though I didn't have the chance to see him in concert, let alone meeting him in person, I felt so identified and represented (my first memory of him was watching Thriller at 3 years old too) and I bet many of you as hardcore fans since childhood will be as well. 🥹 I miss him every day but Dear Michael made me miss him even more.

Him specifically mentioning two people makes me think of R&S, but I doubt it. Probably someone in the industry who was swayed by LN, though. |

I was thinking of the Estate too. Why would they do it? Maybe they thought it would cross their documentary, but then considering how little they promoted that one I don't know why they'd care this deeply to sabotage another doc. If so, they are stupid. I don't think these docs are each other's competitions, on the contrary, they could have complemented and strengthened each other. If the Estate was smart they'd have embraced and supported SF, with licence given to Marcos to use MJ's music in it.
Alternatively Quincy. Why? He seems to be jealous of MJ, maybe he's also jealous of Bruce and the fact he's centered in this doc and not him (Quincy).
But none of it is fact, of course. Just my speculation.

But really it could just be a much more simple explanation of streaming companies wanting to stay out of anything MJ related... other than when the product is being backed by massive companies (Thriller 40.) |

But really it could just be a much more simple explanation of streaming companies wanting to stay out of anything MJ related... other than when the product is being backed by massive companies (Thriller 40.) As time goes on, I feel that they are more interested in how they are perceived as an Estate/business entity than how the artistic career of Michael Jackson is preserved in history. Sonic Fantasy offers them nothing. |
