This board needs a thread dedicated to my favourite vocal artist ever.
Like MJ, he didn't release many albums and his last one (Patience) wasn't his best, but what a songwriter and what a voice.
His Wham! songs were some of the best pop ever, and his solo stuff was fantastic.
Just listen to Ladies and Gentlemen for proof of that.
Praying For Time Kissing A Fool As Somebody To Love Too Funky Fast Love Spinning The Wheel Father Figure Everything She Wants
I could go on for ages and probably will.
Anyone else?

George is the real deal.
This is one of the most covered songs of all time, but I've yet to hear somebody do a better job of it than George:
I also loved his duet with Mary J Blige on As. I may even prefer it to Stevie's:
Little known fact, he did a duet on If I Told You That with Whitney, which was originally written for MJ and Whitney (one of the first songs Rodney Jerkins wrote for MJ). It's a brilliant song:

I also really loved this song from his last album:

Indeed. In fact I think George is the only artist who I always made amazing songs sound even better when he covered them (apart from that god-awful Roxanne song!)
As Somebody To Love (and it takes a very special man to make a Queen song better) Killer (Adamski/Seal) / Papa Was A Rolling Stone Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me
And there werea few from his Symphonica Tour also: Let Her Down Easy (Terence Trent D'arby) Love Is A Losing Game (Amy Winehouse)

I have to confess, I only really gave George the time he deserves after he passed (you know, just like I was criticising Madonna for with MJ in that other thread). I always liked a handful of his songs, but didn't own anything. I was completely shocked and surprised myself by how sad I felt when he died and went out and bought his albums like a proper bandwagon jumper. But I did find a new-found respect for his work. People always go on about what a great vocalist he was (and I'm not disagreeing with that) but the man was also one hell of a songwriter as well.
A few of my George favourites:

I missed it out on the first part, but Freedom '90 is quite simply one of the best rousing songs ever.
Especially live.

The sad thing is, I had just started to get into George Michael ,a few weeks before he died.My mother even wanted to go to one of his concerts with me.

I saw him live twice. The amazing Live 25 & Symphonica which was beautiful.
The Symphonica is something I would have sold my mother for to see Michael do something like that.
Mind you, I'd sell my Mother for a doughnut, she's a right bitch.
(That's a 'joke' she's wonderful)

I don't mind GM, but his singing style was always a bit too crooner-like for my tastes.

MTV Unplugged is perfection! Like MJ in the Bad era to Dangerous era 92, I wish George could have stayed like that forever! Superb artist.
Tony, any latest on the LWP deluxe? I take it it was completely cancelled after his death?

any latest on the LWP deluxe? I take it it was completely cancelled after his death? George Michael's site posted this message from his sisters, which I believe answers your question: Hello Everyone, Melanie & Yioda here, just wanted to say a few words… Our family, and good friends, are all still struggling with the reality that our beautiful Yog is no longer here with us, although we still feel his love. We hope that, as private a family as we have always been (and will remain), that you know we hear you, through your amazing and thoughtful messages and that you understand our loss, as we try to understand yours. We believe that through all the “debris”, Yogs fans, his ‘lovelies’ all around the world, know who he truly was, and is, after shared decades of music, love, and humour. Our aim is to carry on, as we know Yog would have wanted, to share and enjoy his precious legacy and to continue to bring you joy – through his extraordinarily beautiful music.
David, along with Yogs loyal creative team, will continue bringing you all the projects they had been working so hard on for you, exactly as Yog would have wanted…We promise we will always try to honour him by staying true to his ambitions and his intentions. We thank you all for your really fantastic loyal support which has been genuinely appreciated, it has helped us all so much. Jack, Yioda, Melanie & David …and Yog, Lesley & Anselmo… smiling down, and all together…

George Michael has always been one of my favourites too, since he was in Wham! I was aware of him. He was a gifted songwriter and had a beautiful voice. I pretty much have most of his output and really just can't get enough of him.
Even in Wham! he had some amazing songwriting skills and songs like Careless Whisper, Last Christmas, A Different Corner are just timeless. Faith is an amazing album and contains my favourite song "One More Try" and I like pretty much the rest, Faith, Monkey, Father Figure, I want your sex (Definite Prince/MJ homage). George had soul too and this comes out, I suspect he listened to a lot of Prince and Michael.
Listen without Prejudice is criminally underrated, one of my favourite albums and I also really like some of his later material, Freek!, Flawless, Shoot the dog,
His death came as a shock to me, as he was too young and it came in that killing field period of late 2016 when about 10 musical and stage artists all died within days of each other.
