With the WATW documentary putting me in the 80s music documentaries mood, I finally got to watch the Wham documentary too on Netflix. It's a good one too. They were a fun band with some timeless classics. Also, George Michael was a phenomenal talent, of course. Great songwriter, great singer.
Their friendship and vibe with Andrew was so nice. It would have been so easy for Andrew to get jealous when he realized that George was going to outshine and outgrow him, but he never did and that takes a good personality. Andrew just knew and accepted that he wasn't in George's league.
One a sidenote: People love to scoff at MJ's open ambition for commercial success, so it was nice to hear George talk about his. How his ambition was to become the biggest selling artist in the world at a point, he was also very obsessed with getting to #1 (in the 80s anyway). I personally think that's when he actually did his best music. So once again a rebuttal to those who think ambition for commercial success and quality in art are somehow not compatible.
