Will you please stop making every thread about Invincible! Invincible > Listen Without Prejudice Vol I. Bite me. Add up all the quality & emotion from Invincible's 16 songs, and it's about a tenth of the quality & emotion of the first 30 seconds of 'Praying For Time'. Finger me.

YRMW, Speechless, Whatever Happens, Heaven Can Wait >>> anything on LWPV1. I was never a fan of that album. Sounded a bit too desperate to be taken seriously as a singer/songwriter after the pop success of Faith. Older is much, much better, imo.

I don't think LWP is his best album and about a third of it I can happily leave & agree Older is better. But, Praying For Time man! Freedom 90! Two of the best songs ever made. EVER. Not to mention Heal The Pain & Cowboys & Angels. In all fairness. The quality is fully on those 4 songs though.

Yeah, I guess for me, I already knew those songs from the Greatest Hits album I had, so when I got the album (only last year I think), I was a little underwhelmed as there wasn't much else on there worth writing home about. Freedom 90 is great. Until Robbie Williams defecated all over it a few years later. Still haven't forgiven Robbie for that one.

It was more a statement piece at the time. As much as I love GM, like most other non MJ act, I don't think he ever released a perfect album. And it's more my own playlists that I listen to rather than his studio albums. His Greatest Hits collections are superb though, 'Ladies & Gentlemen' is quite rightly one of the biggest sellers ever in the UK.

But yeah, his Ladies & Gentlemen compilation is perfect. IIRC, George Michael also had quite a few one-off singles or b-sides. A lot of his most loved tracks never actually had a home on a studio album, which is quite unusual.

I wrote that last sentence also on my last post but then deleted it as I couldn't think of many examples!! but yes, Too Funky (what a tune) Careless Whisper & A Different Corner aren't on any GM solo album (DC is on Wham's Make It Big') Don't Let The Sun... Somebody To Love

That Christmas one he sang on the X Factor and the one he performed at the British Olympic opening ceremony were both cracking tunes, although haven't heard them in ages.

Never really liked those two. White Light was the Olympic one. Fucking Hell he got some grief for doing that!

He's George Michael. He can stick a panflute up his ass and fart out the notes of Bah Bah Black Sheep if he wants.

He did a fantastic version of Freedom '90 and then this song that nobody knew, hence everyone accusing him of using it as a selfish platform rather than a song the whole world who was watching new. I do get that. But GM said he wanted to pay tribute to the NHS that had saved him from pneumonia earlier in the year that the song was about & royalties were going to.

I'm all for artists playing whatever the hell they want. Madge has caught similar flak over the years for featuring new material heavily in her concerts over the "classic 80s hits." I admire when an artist does that. If I saw an artist like GM or Madge live, I would just be pleased to see whatever they felt inspired to perform, rather than watching them be reduced to travelling nostalgia acts, bored off their tits, performing the same old shit year after year. Why must they always cater to the lowest common denominator? I say he should've got up there on that Olympic stage and bummed everyone out with My Mother Had A Brother and then an unreleased demo from the LWPV1 sessions!

I know how annoying it is that Mike only did 4 songs from Dangerous on the Dangerous Tour. But a 2 song worldwide segment like the Olympics, its for the public & should a crowd pleaser, no? Madonna does get a lot of flak but there's always 7-10 old songs in there also so don't quite get that. E.g. Rebel Heart setlist below. Joan of Arc / Samourai Segment
Iconic Bitch I'm Madonna Burning Up
Holy Water / Vogue
Devil Pray Rockabilly meets Tokyo Segment
Messiah (interlude) Body Shop True Blue Deeper And Deeper
HeartBreakCity / Love Don't Live Here Anymore Like A Virgin Latin / Gypsy Segment
S.E.X. (interlude) Living For Love La Isla Bonita
Dress You Up / Into The Groove / Lucky Star medley Who's That Girl [not on all shows] Request song * Rebel Heart Party Segment
Illuminati (interlude) Music
Candy Shop
Material Girl
La Vie en Rose Unapologetic Bitch Holiday* After a few shows Madonna added a request song in the Latin segment. At first (starting in Brooklyn), that request song usually was Ghosttown. After a while she started switching between Ghosttown, Frozen, Drowned World, Secret, Like A Prayer, Don't Tell Me, Don't Cry For Me Argentina, Spanish Lesson, Crazy For You, Open Your Heart, Hung Up and Take A Bow.

I guess it's because 70% of the audience at a Madonna gig probably haven't bought a Madonna album since the 90s and are there to see Vogue, Like A Prayer, Papa Don't Preach, Like A Virgin and Holiday. But tough tits I say. If you go to an artists show and you don't know the material they're performing that's your own damn fault! I guess you're right about the Olympics, but still, bravo to George for doing whatever the fuck he wanted to.
