As others have already written, I feel so torn about this. There's so much that could go right yet so much that could go very, very wrong.
I admit I do - while suspending all disbelief - enjoy "Searching for Neverland" with Navi. It's not that bad for a TV movie and I enjoyed the book of Bill & Javon's memories, portraying him as a human being. That said I have no idea how they'll pull this off regardless of a much more high budget production.
Technically, we were last left with The Jacksons: An American Dream so I've wondered if we'll get some kind of retrospective for the youngsters/those who don't know exactly who MJ was? How in the world are they going to put his entire life into a movie - a very multifaceted man's life - spanning 50 years?! It'd be 10 hours or something ridiculous.
And who can play child Michael, young adult, mid life then mature MJ? How many actors? I have so many questions; I'm sure we all do.
I'm wary of the whole concept since hearing of it. Just wanted to add my $0.02. Time will tell I suppose.

Lionsgate’s Michael Jackson Biopic, ‘Michael,’ Is Casting for Its Star “Michael” Three-time Oscar-nominated screenwriter John Logan (“Skyfall,” “Gladiator”) is setting his sights on King of Pop Michael Jackson. His biographical drama “Michael” has been in the works for several years, and Lionsgate has acquired the rights to the film with the Jackson estate’s blessing. Producer Graham King, who previously worked with Logan on Martin Scorsese’s “The Aviator,” is also on board. The film will chart Jackson’s meteoric rise to becoming one of the highest-selling artists of all time. (The musical legend’s personal life was also rife with controversy, in particular a string of child abuse allegations dating back to 1993.) The film is still in the development phase, and “Michael” is on the hunt for a director to guide the project. Casting director Kimberly Hardin is on board to assemble the cast—including its lead. Production is tentatively set to start in 2023 in an unnamed location. www.backstage.com/magazine/article/michael-jackson-movie-biopic-now-casting-75244/

they still looking for someone to star as Michael.
BUT good news
Kimberly Hardin is the directing casting.
she was the same woman who did it Searching for Neverland.
so in my opinion if you enjoyed Searching for Neverland, you probably will enjoy this too.
i thought Searching for Neverland was alright.
i wouldn't say best mini movie in the world but something i'm willing to see something like it again.
let's see what happens next year.

I find this worrying actually. I really hope they are not going to go the "we need to find an impersonator to play MJ" direction rather than finding a great actor to play him. I'm sorry but Navi playing him was cringe. We need better standards than this C list movie level. The actor playing Elvis in the new movie looks nothing like Elvis but being a good actor is more important for these type of movies than nailing the look to the T.

Done correctly, it could do for MJ what the ones for Queen and Abba did for them.
Therefore I'm proposing titles of:
We Will Rock With You
Or
Man in the Mamma Mia

Still have a horrible feeling about this. I just can't see how an MJ biopic is needed at this point in time.

I loved Bohemian Rhapsody so much that I went back and watched it in the IMAX. and it created a lot of love for the band. I also saw Mamma Mia and although not my thing, It was easy to see that it was a great vehicle for ABBA’s legacy.

Watched it for the first time since cinema last week and turned it off soon after him and Mary broke up. Freddie spoke like 200 times faster than Malek, I dont know how he nabbed that oscar.

Still have a horrible feeling about this. I just can't see how an MJ biopic is needed at this point in time. Because everyone else is doing it. That seems to be the Estate's logic. Well, except for upgrading music videos on YouTube or a decent box set for anniversary release, because there they stubbornly resist the trend.

Coincidentally I’m actually sat at work wearing my Queen T-shirt! I completely get why a hardcore fan such as yourself doesn’t like it, but I think it has a lot of merit. I think as well you’ve got to understand and accept the perimeters of a motion picture. These films are made for the very broadest demographics and it’s got to tick all the boxes. I think it does that job quite well. The thing is, if you watch a film on Henry The VIII, Churchill, Napoleon, or just about any historical or musical figure(s) it’s NEVER going to be a hundred percent accurate because it can’t be. Part of the deal is that you suspend (a certain amount) of reality. I think for absolute accuracy all one can do is look at any real life footage or watch the documentaries or read as many books as possible. I think the job of the motion picture is to serve a slightly different purpose.
