Jaafar looks the part, but why aren't they showing anything post-80s? I want to see how he is as 90s MJ. The first pic they released is 90's

I’m guessing a lot of the Neverland shoot last week was 90’s. We know why.

I don’t think they’ll go over the top with CGI on Michael, but possibly some subtle changes to enhance the overall look? I’m guessing. I think Jaafar looks good though. This isn’t Michael. It’s another person playing Michael. We have to remember this also. True, but it doesn't help that he looks so much like his dad! When I see these pics I can't help but feel like we've entered Jermaine's dream in which he's the brother that shot to superstardom.

To be honest, from what I’ve seen of Jaafar -which admittedly isn’t much- he seems closer in spirit and personality to Michael. He may resemble Jermaine but seems to posses Michael’s qualities. I may be wrong, but I do understand why he’s the chosen one for this role.

I do wonder what his actual acting skills are like though. Are they just hoping his musical likeness will be enough? as if his acting isnt upto scratch it could get embarrassing. I just hope its half decent and he wasnt just picked because there was no one else who could get away with playing MJ other than a jackson.

The older I get, the more I love that song. I really find myself relating to it and I had a pretty good childhood. In some respects, I don't think that even really matters. Everyone in life has gone through traumas or things that have effected them, scarred them and shaped who they've become. I think you see this more clearly the older you get. With that in mind, Childhood is actually one of his most universally relatable songs. Before you judge someone, consider the life they've had and ask yourself why they do the things they do. It's a message of compassion, really.

I know no other actor could get away with portraying Michael other than a Jackson but there are stuff easy to get right such as the hair and the nose. Michael didn't have an afro like hair by 1982-1984, in that Victory tour announcement recreation, Jaafar looks like a mix of his father and Bruno Mars and in 1984, MJ had his nose smaller.
Even if I'll probably be nitpicking the movie, I really hope the script and Jaafar make Michael justice because I'm not sure if he has the acting skills to portray such a complex person and artist as his uncle was.

I think you guys are getting way ahead of things in terms of the actual outcome. We simply don’t know what Jaafar will look like until we see the actual film, and trailers of course. At the end of the day this lad is portraying MJ, he’s not actually MJ. Fans really need to understand that this is a film. Austin Butler didn’t look 100 percent like Elvis and Rami Melek didn’t look 100 percent like Freddie.
Also, we don’t even know the extent of these shots they filmed. They could be simply wide shots. Close ups of this scene could be filmed on another day with more detail. We don’t know. And we won’t know until we actually see it.
In the theatre when the audience is watching this they’re not really going to be thinking “his hair I doesn’t have enough curls or volume” or “his jacket should have two more buttons”, especially if they are gripped and caught up in the story. There was a billion things not correct about American Dream and most fans sight that as a go-to because the acting was half decent.
Perhaps I’m overoptimistic. I don’t know, but I really do wish fans could have faith and separate the idea that it’s a film, not a documentary. It’s going to go through reshoots of certain scenes, it’s going to go through close up shoots, post production, possibly CGI elements, it’s possibly shot on a naked lense with colour added in and many other elements.
And let’s be optimistic for Jaafar aswell. His mannerisms, physique, everything looks pretty gawd damn good to me at least.

It's a movie. Timelines etc will be moved around. Him not having the correct hair will probably be one of the smaller changes made. Fans expecting a documentary will surely be disappointed.

Okay, so the next phase in the fandom is to complain about the wardrobe. LOL.
Jaafar seems taller than MJ so MJ's clothes probably wouldn't even fit him. Besides they are museum pieces.

Yeah i highly doubt Mjs clothes would be an exact fit! Then they use them and start adjusting the clothes to fit him and “fans” go mad over that!

They're deluded if they think there was a possibility Michael's own clothes would've been worn by Jafaar for the film, even if they fitted him!
The risk of damage, wear & tear is too big for such legendary clothing to be put through during the strain of repeated filming.
It must be young, newer fans complaining about that!
Besides, Michael gave quite a bit of his clothes away over the years. The jacket he wore during Bad Pepsi concert commercial was a prize in a competition, so some lucky winner has had it ever since, for example!

This fan base will fabricate things to complain about. I know I've been very vocal about that lately, but Jesus, some "fans" really make this so exhausting for the rest of us.
