Honestly don't know what would make a lot of you happy. At this point I reckon MJ himself could rise up and announce the tracklist and you'd still be like 'Yeah, but I wanted Baby Be Mine demo from May 4th 1981 WE ALL know it exists...' I've no problem with Got The Hots being selected just to be clear (although it would have made more sense to be on the digital release part, it was previously officially released regardless of who bought it and in what region), and I am fully expecting to have heard all of the remaining songs. I'm just not overly gone on this song, is all. The "rock it baybay" bit is cool though. The fact I'm getting 2 songs I haven't heard before was more than enough for me to be happy with Thriller 40 to be honest.

If the primary complaint is “they shouldn’t release leaked tracks” then the rebuttal is “don’t listen to leaked tracks in the first place!” You can’t listen to something illegal and then complain when it’s finally being released. If you’ve already listened to it then that’s what you’ve signed up for. There’s only so many complete tracks available from the Thriller era. Nobody has said anything about leaked tracks, Got The Hots has already been officially released.

Between Thriller40, KOP and other releases I don’t suppose you know or can list everything released so far from Thriller? I’m at work and too lazy to look. I also can’t multitask.

We are also getting the 7" version of Human Nature which is only available on a 3" CD that costs like €80 on discogs, so that's another major bonus. All in all Thriller 40 has exceeded my expectations (which were not high to begin with I must add). I was sold at Behind The Mask.

It's more about being sold a track that has already seen an official release again. GTH could have easily been included on the digital deluxe disc, along with all the other previously released tracks. Is it really that much of a deal breaker? I always thought it was mad some bought KOP in Germany, Australia, France and Italy, for example, just to listen to GTH. This T40 will mark its first full wide scale release as opposed to the limited release with KOP. Of course, some downloaded it rather than buy KOP, but I've little time for those fans moaning it's on T40. They chose to download it. Many, many fans didn't. It's going to be on the disc, so Tony R is correct. Listen to the other 9 tracks and focus on the positives there instead. Yeah, I said before they started announcing stuff that if they tried to sell stuff back to us on the second disc I wouldn't be buying it. I'll stream it on spotify and am looking forward to hearing The Toy and Behind the mask.

Glad I can own this without paying a fortune for the Japanese T25 CD.
I wonder if the Girl Is Mine demo inlcuded on the Girl Is Mine 2008 single will make an appearance.

I'm fine with Got The Hots being on here. I don't really care that it was on a random compilation in a small handful of countries, it hasn't really been widely available and this will mark it's worldwide streaming debut. One could argue it might fit the 'third digital disc' better because it has technically been previously released, but I'm not too fussed really. If it were a song like Carousel that is widely available (having been on Thriller SE 2001 and Thriller 25 and therefore on streaming too), then yeah I'd feel it would be more of a waste of the ten tracks.
I would've loved an extra disc that featured alternative takes/demos of the original album, listed in the same order. Maybe some songs can have 2-3 takes/versions, but I can honestly see them reserving this kind of thing for Thriller 50, the release of which is inevitable.
Also, I was taking a look at the listing on Apple Music to refresh what was exclusive to streaming, and they've now renamed 'Behind The Mask (Demo)' to 'Behind The Mask (Mike's Mix (Demo))'.

Very unlikely I'll be buying this now, and the chance was low before. Not interested in being sold something that has already been released and sold before. I fully expect to see carousel as well now. Also, wtf are these amateur hour blurbs for the song announcements all about?? The FULL version of Carousel HAS to be on there because it's never been officially released in full before. I'll be annoyed if it's not on there or if it's the brutally edited version that cuts out a whole verse.

But here's the full version. It's my favourite Thriller outtake so I'd like it to get an official release in full finally.

I don't get how anyone can be enthusiastic about a 7" version? It's like "yay, LESS music." I think they have their time and place. For a song like Human Nature that isn't long, at 4 minutes, then yeah for sure. I don't really get the point.
But when you have longer songs, depending on the context sometimes you just want a version that's more straight to the point. Case-in-point, I had a party recently and made a huge playlist of it. Naturally, there were a good handful of MJ tracks in there, amongst them were DYSTGE, Thriller and YRMW. For those three songs, I elected to use the radio edits off Number Ones. My reason being I felt they either went on for a little bit too long (DYSTGE at 6 minutes), or the album versions take their sweet time at the beginning to get to the actual song (Thriller/YRMW). Those last two songs, I use the radio edits on my dance playlist too, as when I'm dancing about, I'm not really interested in the atmospheric build-up of Thriller, or the tired spoken intro for YRMW. I just wanna groove!
So yeah, they have their moments but it does depend on the situation you're in, as well as how the song may be edited too.

Oh yeah, for those with extended ot especially 'comedy' intros like YRMW and BoW, they are vital. I don't have standard versions of those 2 songs on my playlist, just the edits. Same with WYBT, the best version is the Free Willy Soundtrack one. Even though I do like the full album version, there's a time and place. I'd rather sodomise myself with a hot poker than play edits of WII or Earth Song though, and yeah for a standard song like HN, why enjoy a shorter version? Maybe it's an Irish thing.
