if this true my only worry is about his mom and kids. others saying it's best to give it to the family. while i agree we all know how Michael was when it came to his family. honestly like i said Michael really didn't have any other choices.
i agree the money should go to charity.
but i also agree that a black owned music company takes it. i really hope so. Michael worked so hard for this and i don't think he would sell it either only if was giving to a black owned music company. 😔😔😔

Quite predictably, Lipstick Alley is a car crash when it comes to this. Conspiracy theories and racism abound - apparently, it's part of a large scale effort to ensure black people cannot profit. 🤦♂️
MJJC is a bit better, but still obviously going into outrage mode instead of attempting to understand the purported deal.
Too many talk as though the entire MJ assets are being sold too. Idiots.

I'm worried for the girl who thought the leak of Chicago 1945 et al was worse than child sex abuse allegations. This news may have rendered her catatonic.

These people must really struggle in daily life with that degree of suspicion and distrust.

Fans are reacting to this emotionally. I say let's wait and see how it unfolds and whether it's true at all. In a way it's actually awesome news, because Sony investing this much into MJ shows they have faith in his legacy. Someone is not going to invest $800 million into an artist's legacy only to get him cancelled. That's crazy thought. They will try to make sure their investment is worth. So who knows it may mean new, exciting projects.

On a sidenote: if the news of the biopic had Dan Reed all riled up, imagine what this will do to him!

Plonking down a record amount speaks volumes as to the profits they AND the Estate can realise in the years to come. I think it's a win-win. Probably also easier for Michael's kids in future as the assets are huge, so a company experienced in such complex matters can only help.

So I wonder if the media will begin to change their tune with so much more money to be made off of Michael. I think this tide turned a while ago tbh. The news sites weren't anywhere near as catastrophic for MJ The Musical or the film. I only saw one or two negative articles. MJ fans love misery and always focus on posts/articles (however big or small) that are negative and when you block it all out you realise that no one really cares about those click bait articles except for MJ fans. This kind of news definitely is good for MJs brand though. I wish the tide would turn here in the US. Over here it's about a lot more than click bait articles. The common opinion over here is to assume he's guilty and openly talk about it as if it's agreed upon. I get what you're saying about some MJ fans looking to he unhappy, but I assure you that ain't me lol. I'd love nothing more then for all the allegation talk to go away forever, but it's just not the reality here in the US.

The TMZ article suggests a stipulation is that the executors of the estate maintain control and final say. Not confirmed obviously.

Meanwhile also in the USA right now: Also in the USA: he was the #43 most watched artist on YouTube last week and by far the most viewed legacy artist. Not saying this isn't a case of separating the art and the artist, but IMO not everything is doom and gloom in the USA either.

Sony brings a new proposed release to the estate and the estate approve it. Standard practice. As people have said here, it certainly can’t be any worse than what we’ve already had. Surely the investors will have a certain amount -large amount- of creative control?

It could mean reducing the asking fees for using his music. Didn't the Stranger Things guys use up a mental amount of money to use Thriller for a commercial alone? Re-instate MJ's music in GTA Vice City!

I just hope theres a creative team involved that will start utilising the music/visual side of things and begin creating decent releases that are approved and we will get the fan base and casual public somewhat excited. Maybe the biopic will help turn the tide and this deal will help float the boat. Would love a massive resurgence. Perhaps it’s wishful thinking but you never know. I’m excited for the biopic and this deal.
