I've always thought Jerkins did better work for other people in the years before working with MJ and even during. MJ and Jerkins didn't have great musical chemistry together.
This latest one confirms it and, although the brief snippet sounded good, I'm no longer expecting Rampage to be top drawer.
The chorus here needs to really pop and stand out the way other ones on the album do. I can hear why Michael got bored of this and didn't proceed further.
That said, I kinda enjoy hearing it. Just not going to be a repeat listen often.

In hindsight, MJ perhaps should've just used Rodney for 2-3 tracks - I think RJ was overstretched being used as the main producer. I would've preferred MJ work up Hollywood Tonight and perhaps revisit Behind The Mask and She Was Loving Me, and just keep Unbreakable, Xscape and YRMW from the Darkchild sessions. Would be fascinating to see what MJ/RJ did with Cheater.

Wasn't really feeling it but it's grown on me a bit more after a few more listens. This could've been on the Michael album instead of Monster, for sure.

But that's one song out of quite a few now which is enough to say they didn't have great chemistry musically. MJ had consistent, better chemistry with others before from Motown right up to Jam & Lewis. Jerkins should have been used sparingly for sure!

We know that this song was reviewed by the Estate and Sony in 2014 for possible inclusion on Xscape. Adding it to make the album a little longer would have been welcome. It's possible they decided to save it for a later project or maybe they just weren't impressed with it altogether. I quite like Jerkins' 2014 remix of Xscape so it would have been interesting to hear what a 2014 remix of GYWOOM by him might have sounded like. It wouldn't be hard to improve on the original instrumentation, in my opinion

So annoying we'll probably have to wait anything from 5-20yrs before this ends up on streaming...

This song has really grown on me. Would gladly trade it for the title track or Privacy on the actual album tbh, both of which seem to be amalgamation of CGYWOOM. I never did care for the title track of Invincible (by far my least favourite uptempo on the album) and whilst I like Privacy, I think CGYWOOM goes harder.

Still just OK to me. Least favourite of the outtakes I'd say. I'd still choose it over a few of the album cuts though like Heartbreaker, HCW, YAML etc. That chorus does nothing for me. I think it could be better at a faster tempo.

Gave this another listen today and it's a grower. Production is horrible, but there's some grit and spunk in MJ's delivery. I hated most of the remixes on Xscape, but if true that this was considered for the album at one point, I can imagine it'd be one of the few outtakes that could really have benefitted from a reimagining.
