Think you can just waltz in here and change your scores?!! Well…..yes you can do that. Sounds like you have a longer drive than me! Ha! Final revisions A long drive indeed, a few detours plus traffic. Dangerous has kept me company on many long drives. Same as me! Some detours, traffic, traffic lights. Nice to know there’s another fan driving around doing the same thing between work and home. 🤩

Okay, you're not gonna believe this, but I just watched the MTV 10th Anniversary performance for the first time. I know, shocking, right? I'm almost a bit disgusted at myself how this could possibly have occurred.
I guess I knew so much of it from the WYBT music video I never really felt the need to check out the MTV performance. Big mistake. What a stunning performance that was.
Even though it's lipped, the emotion is palpable. It says something to the power and strength of the music and his stage presence that he could deliver a lip-synched performance and translate so much emotion with it.
And the choreography is just art, isn't it? Nobody ever talks about WYBT's choreography. It's always Dangerous that people harp on about, but this is up there, it really is.

I was going to do an “I’d expect this behaviour from Tony” line but I’m just glad you’ve seen it. Anyway, Tony has definitely seen it because it’s part of the era of his favourite album of all time. I think George Michael’s performance is also really good but I’ve not seen it in years.

Like, how can I call myself a fan of 30yrs, run a bloody MJ fanboard and not have seen such a high profile performance? I'm ashamed.

Nah not at all man. We can all be like this with certain things. The thing about THAT performance is that they used some footage in the WYBT music video and also showed clips -I think?- on the Dangerous The Short Films VHS/DVD. It can create a sense or assumption that you’ve actually seen it.

I am ALWAYS going on about this performance and in particular WYBT choreography. I always get shot down when I say the video for it is amongst his best I've said it's like someone played the song to the world's most powerful computer and it perfectly worked out how to interpret the song visually. I have such a visceral memory of seeing that performance. Mainly as when the choir started on WYBT I thought it was Who Is It and my heart nearly stopped! Even then WII was a firm favourite. I'm actually amazed that this is the first time you've seen it, especially being a huge Slash fan! Sorta jealous in a way. Yeah '95 gets all the plaudits, but this is much better.

Well, I still think the video ain't all that. They splice it up with stock footage from the tour, do they not? And then endless crowd shots. Nah, it's a total filler video. But the performance itself is fantastic. And now you come to mention it, I do recall you banging on about the choreography to WYBT. Kudos to you Tony, when you're right, you're right.

I genuinely don't see what else the video could have been. MJs ballads songs never got the proper short film treatment. Only real exception is Childhood which was obviously overshadowed by Scream. Yes, WYBT video could be seen as filler or an easy solution but I'm captivated by it, just as I am by the APOM video. They may not be especially made for the occasion but it's MJ doing what he does best, being magical, enthralling and emotive - and I love it.

They should've just gone with the MTV 10th Anniversary performance for the shortfilm. On a separate note, I've always said HIStory was my favourite MJ album, but I'm thinking it may be slowly shifting to Dangerous. It's splitting hairs really, as they're both astoundingly good, but Dangerous is just so darn classy. There's a coolness to Dangerous, from the sophistication of shortfilms like Who Is It and In The Closet to the album and single artwork. And that's before we even get to the music. In The Closet for example, is how you write a song about sex and keep it classy. Give Into Me is undoubtedly the coolest rock song in his canon. Who Is It is pop music for grown folks. No-one makes dark sounding pop music anymore, but the early 90s was a great time for it, Who Is It by MJ, Confide In Me by Kylie, Sanctuary by Madge, This Time by Janet. The whole Dangerous era was just exquisitely executed, the only shortfall being the tour and it's lack of Dangerous songs performed.

Everything from the cover art to the films was perfect. The tour was obviously great but the lack of songs from the album was sinful. Even the publicity including 'Oprah and The Grammys' (still my favourite Motown band that never was) were perfect and saw him on a verge of a miraculous PR comeback.
