Judas Priest are still going? Fuck me. I'll have you know their new album is number 2 this week on the UK album chart and I'm seeing them at Wembley Arena next Thursday. I have my mullet ready, just gotta get me a leather studded belt and I'll fit right in.

I haven’t listened to them since the 80’s. I know all these Metal bands through my brothers days in his metal band. They used to hang out with Judas Priest and all these groups in The Marquee? Is that the right place Matty? It’s a live venue in London? Or near?

I love the Priest, in my top 3 tier rock bands, with GNR and Sabbath. So pumped for seeing em Thursday, just wish my stinking cold would do one!!

Is he worth the time you give him? If you enjoyed the overall experience, yes. If you didn’t, how many films do we sit through that we think meh. And your the only one here -besides myself- who has a valid opinion one way or another. Fuck you Aaron, fuck you sideways and on a Sunday. I'm actually really quite vibing with this JT record. First time I've ever really connected with an album of his. I'm really not happy about this. Fiona's not happy about it either. I've spent 20 years telling her what a sack of shit he was and now I go and do a 180. I'm blaming you for this. Must be said, songs like Technicolor and Drown would've had MJ fans hyped if they'd been on an MJ comeback album circa 2009. Folks just be slagging it off cuz they decided they disliked the record before they'd even heard it (half of em probably ain't even heard it).

If there’s one thing I’ve learned in life, it is that adults are the biggest babies of the lot! God forbid you should actually take the time to listen to a record and formulate your own thoughts and ideas. Imagine that?! The same media outlets who are dogging JT over Britney are the same media outlets who directly contributed to Britney’s mental decline. It never ceases to amaze me how incredibly thick the average person can be, and how hypocritical and disingenuous the public at large actually are. Also, he can be a sack of shit and make a decent album at the same time! Both truths can exist simultaneously. A football player can be a sack of shit and still score an incredible goal. An air hostess can be a lovely person but still serve you a piss poor cup of coffee on a transatlantic flight that you weren’t looking forward to because your not the biggest fan of flying. It’s not her fucking fault! People love a self righteous band wagon. Especially if they believe it makes them look like a better person. You’re a misfit! Don’t ever fucking change mate!

Did a guest piece reviewing the album: This is the only review I’ve read and it’s probably the only one I will read! I’m sick to death of reading about Britney and Janet Jackson’s fucking tit! Bravo Mathew!

I haven't listened to the album yet, but it seems to me JT is now at the phase of his career where the media is trying to tear him down, after decades of building him up. I was never a fan of his but I despise this behavior by the media.

I was never a fan of his but I despise this behavior by the media. Yeah, I actually covered this in my review: What bothers me is how disingenuous it is. When the mainstream media like an artist, everything they do is praised, often ridiculously overhyped and they can seemingly do no wrong. Then when "they" decide the artist is no longer the latest hot thing, they all collectively decide to get their knives out. I have no problem with people not liking the album, but if music is really meant to be subjective, why do all the critics have exactly the same consensus all the time? You're either hot or you're not, it's black and white, no shades of grey and if your over-40 then good luck and if you're white and male as well, you're toast. I also deplore the notion that no popstar over the age of 40 can have anything of value to bring to the table. I literally read one review, think it may have been from one of the British broadsheet rags, Telegraph or The Guardian ('nuff said), pretty much saying just that; that every artist peaks in their 20s/30s and JT being a married father of two in his forties has nothing to offer. Disgusting ageism really.

It's also rather hypocritical of the media to put whatever happened to Janet and Britney all on him. JT was a coward to distance himself from what happened at the SB, but at the end of the day it was the media who decided to put it all on Janet while letting JT off the hook and who treated them differently. The sexist/racist double standards came from the media, not JT. So it's a bit rich that now the same media is putting all their shit on JT instead of self reflection.
Same with Britney. I don't even get how it became such a big issue. People break up all the time. People cheat on each other all the time. Artists write songs about their bad breakups all the time. Something for which Taylor Swift is celebrated somehow is all wrong when it comes from a man? And I don't think JT is to be blamed for Britney's mental breakdown more than the media's constant pressure on her at the time. So once again it's very convenient for the media to put all that shit that they were so complicit in on one man.

Oh, the media as an institution never take accountability for anything and it's sickening. They get away with murder, quite literally - look at Diana. "If he dies, they sympathize." MJ saw right through them, even before Diana. Ahead of his time, as usual.

Album is looking to sell between 60-65k, including streams and physical formats and will be Timberlake's first album in the US not to top the Billboard album chart. It's on course to debut at #4.
It's a massive drop-off from Man of The Woods which debuted at #1 with 300k first week sales. I think the bad publicty from Britney's book and his overall bad PR these last few years have taken their toll.
It's a shame, as I took a listen and it's not a bad little album and I'm no JT fan! Technicolour especially is brilliant.

Goes to show how impressive the success MJ had with HIStory and even Invincible was. Nobody had worse reviews and publicity than MJ after Dangerous and he was still topping the charts. Even Janet couldn't sustain a respectable level of success after the fallout from the Superbowl. You have to be an exceptional talent to still be topping the charts once the media have sharpened their knives. It's easy to enjoy astounding success when you're reaping the benefits of a huge media push like Taylor Swift, but eventually she too will be replaced and will have to sustain her career purely on the merits of her talent.

Album reached #4 in UK, but only sold 3k physical copies. Also, his UK shows are struggling to sell. Can see him "doing a Janet" and downsizing from arenas to theatres pretty soon.
