I think that story originated from J Randy Taraborelli's book, so I'd take it with a pinch of salt tbh. Sorry but Lisa Marie told Oprah that story. I guess it was true.

She does mention MJ a few times in the book, but always in a positive way. She said she saw the Bad tour and even though the experience was horrible (she got crushed and hyperventilated), she said he was incredible and she was so glad she got to see him in his lifetime. She mentions how Wade Robson gave her her first job after leaving Prince. She was pretty much broke (she didn't take any money off Prince in the divorce settlement) and she said how lost she was after dedicating the first decade of her adult life to Prince and she was really grateful that Wade took a chance on her to choreograph the music video for Britney's I'm A Slave 4 U. Not to turn this into another Wade Robson thread, but I suppose this explains her willingness to support his claims. Yes, I am trying to give her a pass on that considering she was Wade's friend (actually, I read they had a relationship at a time), while she did not know MJ. Usually in these situations a person's loyality with the one who she knows (even if it is the wrong choice). Wade is lying to everyone, so buying his crap doesn't make Mayte a horrible person, just naive, but I do wish she would not have commented on it since she seems to be ignorant about the case. At least she leaves that out of her book and remains respectful to MJ there. I think that story originated from J Randy Taraborelli's book, so I'd take it with a pinch of salt tbh. No, LMP said that. www.elvis.com.au/presley/lisa-marie-playboy-interview.shtml(The last sentence is ironic in the light of how she is now in a pretty ugly custody battle nightmare with her current husband.) The "If you don't have a baby with me, Lisa, there's another woman who will" story about MJ reminds me of the "Do what I say, Mayte - there are loads of other woman out there who exhaust themselves trying to be with me" story about Prince. Ugh. It is funny how similar they were regarding this. I guess, like Matty said, it is difficult to be in a normal relationship when you are so different. And of course one is the extreme fame, talent and the yes-men that it draws and their effects on them. But I think they were also naturally wired very differently than your average person that made it difficult for them to be in a relationship and make it work. I think the difference is that MJ did not pick a woman who was starstruck with him (IMO he actually probably deliberately went out of his way NOT to be with a woman who was worshipping him like a fan would). As Elvis' daughter LMP was not impressed by fame and money and was not easily starstruck. She was of course smitten by him - but by the person, the man, not by the celebrity. And I think MJ was consciously looking for that, that's why Lisa seemed like a good idea. But eventually he still wanted then the woman to just do whatever he said and he was stubborn in that. LMP was too and she had her own issues and faults, so it was bound to fail, I guess. On the other hand, I don't think MJ was AS controlling as Prince. I mean, for example, he didn't mind LMP having a different religion than him. I think he probably told Lisa what he liked in terms of a woman's look (and you can see Lisa dressing more lady-like and elegant during that peroid than she otherwise does), but I don't think he was as forceful about that as Prince (or Elvis to Priscilla). Probably he just made it known what he liked and LMP was happy to please him. I don't see that as a control issue in their relationship. He was controlling perhaps in other ways, eg. if he wanted to have a kiss with his wife at the MTV Video Music Awards live then they would, period, no matter how she felt about that. So yeah, I guess he had his way of forcefully pushing through things he wanted, but I see it as a bit different than Prince/Elvis.

I guess when you are as famous as both MJ and Prince, you can be a good person with good intentions and be a wonderful human, but beyond that, fame will always have a degree of impact on how they view life/other people/relationships.
I wholeheartedly believe Michael was a beautiful, humble person who cared deeply for those around him - but there was that impact of fame, keeping him from seeing what was/was not acceptable in relationships with others. Nobody in normal day-to-day life would say to their spouse "Have my baby because if not I have this other person lined up."
It highlights a warped perception of reality and real relationships, rather than anything meant to be nasty, in my opinion.
It's why I believed Michael and Prince ultimately ended up single in their later years. People with THAT level of fame can't seem to relate with others in the usual way. In fact, I've even thought that because their fame stopped them interacting with others in normal day to day life, Prince and Michael probably didn't understand real relationships. Didn't understand that people come with their own set of ideas, needs, hopes and wishes that aren't always gonna slot in with theirs.
I also think they saw women in an idealistic/romanticized way. And no woman could live up to that... look at Prince. He swept Mayte off her feet when she was a teen, took her on holidays, picked out gorgeous outfits and gifts for her, planned romantic meals and holidays, even worshipped her... yet as a person, deep down, didn't know how to truly respect or keep her happy. Once she grew and showed him she was her own person who wanted to do her own things, he backed off. She wasn't meant to cause him complications, she was there to merely compliment his life.

Changing the record. Has anyone read the "Uncut guide to Prince" which reviews every Prince album (Well official ones and some NPGMC stuff). The detail is great, but some of the marks they give classic songs (Adore - 3 stars, Mountains 4 stars, Insatiable 1 star, Darling Nikki 2 stars and so on) and all the big ass hits get 5 stars no matter how shit they were.
Meanwhile my video channel will be doing Lovesexy this year. Lovesexy is 30 years old this year.
It was Prince's last classic album here, and is important as Michael's 1988 leg of the Bad tour was shadowed by Prince's "Lovesexy in the Round" all through Europe and the USA in 1988. How I would have loved to have seen both as Michael was in peak form and so was Prince with his hellafunky band in the era (Sheila E, Cat, Eric, Matt, Miko etc).

I can't find your channel lately, have you changed the name? MJ played my hometown in 1988 and Prince played it 1990. I missed both due to my mother not being able to afford it. Had I been a but older I would have been able to go on my own. God damn it! Lovesexy is an incredible album. Easily in my top 5, possibly in my top 3 Prince albums.

It is under the name Tane McManus and I have the Adorecream Prince stuff separated out. That is cool about the concerts, you know though that 1990 was the Nude tour for Prince, which was a stripped down greatest hits revue (Although he was playing a few tracks off the soon to be released Graffiti Bridge like Thieves in the Temple).
It was also when he had most of the NPG on stage with him, the Game boys, Michael Bland on drums and Rosie singing. Only Miko Weaver and Dr Fink were left off the old bands and they were on their way out. Levi was still on bass, but once Miko left and Sonny came in on bass, he moved up on to Guitar with Prince. Although I would have liked a Lovesexy show more, this would still have been hellafunky.

I've reached God status and you're two posts away from it.

Even if it needs a bit of trimming, this track is really cool.

Even if it needs a bit of trimming, this track is really cool. ^^ My God though, does that song need some trimming. By the end of it you feel like its bordering on torture if you hear the words "dance electric" one more time. His long songs never usually bothered me, but this one just meanders on and on and on.
