I’ve not been following things with the Prince Estate but McMillan & Spicer make a fair argument about Prince’s siblings in my honest opinion; “The Individual defendants lack any business and management experience, have no experience in the music and entertainment industries, and have no experience negotiating and managing high-level deals in the entertainment industry.” And the claim; “Sharon and Norrine’s alleged attempt to “install themselves” in the current managers’ places: “Their interference and intervention will make it impossible to carry on the business of Prince Legacy and will cause irreparable harm to the Company’s good will, existing relationships, and revenue streams.” Did Prince even spend any time or have any dealings with these family members? I would imagine the absolute bare minimum. He literally spent his life working. They should have taken their cut -and feel humbled and delighted- and let the professionals get on with the business of Prince. |

It really is a shame. I felt like the Estate really found their footing with the 1999 and Sign super deluxe editions, both incredible releases. Heck, I enjoyed the Piano & Microphone 1983 and Originals albums a lot too, both of which were quite heavily criticized by some fans (you can tell how good Prince fans had it compared to MJ fans if they're unhappy with those sets).
Things have been messy since. I have stopped keeping up with the details, but remember the family for example wanted to return all his tapes to Paisley Park - a completely irrational and possibly devastating decision, given that they simply do not have the equipment there to properly preserve it. They clearly do not have the experience needed to properly manage his Estate...
