I was shocked to hear Tabloid Junkie playing in my local multiplex today. I don't think I've ever heard any Dangerous, HIStory or Invincible album cuts out and about. Somebody must've been a fan!

But they did meet didn't they? How on Earth did nobody take a pic of these legends together.
Yes, they met on several occasions.
They performed on the same stage together in the early 80s at a James Brown show (footage of this is on Youtube).
They met during the recording of the Bad album to discuss Prince possibly duetting on the title track.
They met in 2006/7 when Prince was playing his Vegas residency.
And I believe I remember hearing a story about them meeting in the 90s one time, but the details of the meeting escape my mind at this moment.
I'm sure a photograph of the two must exist somewhere, but just hasn't been made public.
The Hit Factory, July 14th 1994. HIStory Sessions, Private Meeting For Several Hours, During O(+> Gold Experience Era.

Oh, to be a fly on the wall during that meeting.
I wonder what they discussed??

Possibly religion, I remember mentions by Prince saying he wished he was of able to discuss more with MJ about the issues of juggling faith with celebrity. But according to the revolution after Prince passed, they mentioned that MJ was a visitor to Paisley Park several times. I have a feeling they were in more regular contact than others knew and just made a pact to keep the 'rivalry' alive, as it made for good press. Apparently, Prince described playing table tennis with MJ as 'He played like Helen Keller', to one of the band as he was such a useless player. He also shipped a box of Sly and the family performances over to paisley park for prince as he stopped rehearsals to announce that MJ had just sent the stuff over and wanted the band to view it.

Yeah, I remember the story about MJ sharing his Sly videos. Tbh, it sounds like MJ was a lot cooler to Prince than the other way round.

Just watched the YRMW shortfilm for the first time in years and it was better than I remembered. Okay, it's not Scream, and the song is definitely better than the video, but it's still kinda fun.

I watched it last night, one of my favourite videos of his. Okay, it's not groundbreaking but it's well paced and beautifully shot.

It unfortunately treads on familiar grounds, but it's still definitely fun to watch and a good video in itself!

So many cool bits, like the hunched back Fred Astaire move down the corridor, the glide behind the curtain and some really great moves in the group dance sequence at the end (despite reusing a few moves from Dangerous, which was a bit lazy). I think it would've been better accepted as the third or fourth video from the album. I think there was a lot of expectation on MJ in 2001 to return with something groundbreaking and completely fresh, which is why I think YRMW got such a lukewarm reception at the time. The song and video judged on their own merits are both brilliant, imo. Just the wrong look and sound for his big comeback in 2001.

I think if he released some futuristic videos for songs like Heartbreaker or 2000 Watts and some beautiful ones for Break Of Dawn or Butterflies I wouldn't have cared at all if YRMW feels a bit similiar to his past work. The shortfilm itself is great imo.

He's hiding his face throughout most of it and on the one close up at the end of the video, he looks like a drag queen with all that makeup on. Karen Faye really did some awful makeup on MJ over the years. I know MJ wasn't looking his best around this time, but he'd of looked ten times better with less makeup on, I guarantee.

Apparently the director told MJ to hide his face because it would look cool but he actually just wanted to see MJ's face less in the video because of how he looked at the time.

It was a bit troubling to see, and quite obviously had something wrong with his top lip. Still curious to know what happened.

Well, it was obvious MJ didn't look his best 2001-2002, but the video to YRMW was handled very badly. I mean, he didn't look great at the MSG shows, but at least he didn't look like a drag queen.
