LaToya paid a lovely tribute to Madonna's post about her brothers passing: ibb.co/9W8cjkD

Madonna on her struggles to get her biopic off the ground: I read she wants a $100m budget for it. Trouble is, she's marketed everything in her life but her bowel movements. There just isn't the public interest in her lifestory to warrant such a lavish production. It'd flop just like Whitneys did. The budget would have to be about $50 in order for it to be profitable.

I think a Madonna biopic could do well, although self-directed may put people off as non-fans will just assume it's a vanity project.

I'm not sure Russ. The issue is that biopics do better when the subject is dead or an artist who stopped a long time ago. I get the self directed thing. Why should someone else tell HERstory?

Not sure who this Russ is you speak of, but I think Matty has a point. Average cinema goers will be turned off by a self-directed auto-biopic and view it as a vanity project. It will not appeal to anyone outside of the hardcore fanbase. Historically, the most successful biopics managed to transcend the fanbase of said artists. I've seen Bohemian Rhapsody twice for example, and I've never brought a Queen record in my life.
