I quit smoking. 1 week today without a cigarette. It was much easier than I thought. Wish I had done it earlier.

Looking after myself mentally - started a wee course with the OU a few months ago in science, technology and maths. I wasn't great at maths back in school - below average, actually. But I've improved a lot during the course as I'm learning kind of maths I never thought I would! Got 80 out of 100 marks in my assignment yesterday. Here's a sample of the questions for it with my hastily written notes around it which is actually correct: , Although my answer for scientific notation Here is correct, I ended up second guessing myself and went with a slightly different one which is incorrect! ๐คฃ Just shows that your mind can be your biggest obstacle - "I can do this....noooo, I can't!". Put myself off going back to education for years. Next stop - a course in audiology!

Well I'm ok, last monday was supposed to be D Day for Athens but I stuck to my "no more shit junk food" rule at least while I couldn't run but.... I should be ok in a few days. I've been watching lots of The Flash so I'm sure I'll recover quickly.. Original 1990 series BTW

I did 8m yesterday, first proper run in ages. Went well but sore knee again. Bit worried

First half marathon in 6 weeks, 5.5 mins slower than back in May but I guess that's not bad....?? It's as good or as bad as you make it to be really. It's all down to circumstances like? 6 weeks is plenty of time to put in serious work. You should be aiming to hit your peak pace in a couple of weeks though, but that's certainly not bad. I've to book mine later on to prepare for Athens. Dreading the half more than the marathon.

You'll be fine. How's the turf injury?

Knee feeling much better.
Not sure if down to me scheduling my runs better or the fact I've been taking turmeric!

Knee feeling much better. Not sure if down to me scheduling my runs better or the fact I've been taking turmeric! Ooh good man, are you getting out much? I don't really look at Strava for the minute so I haven't been seeing what you are doing. Are you on Garmin connect? Going great here, did over 50 miles last week with a 15 miler up the mountain. Hoping for 60+ this week with an 18 miler up the mountain again and then I will say August has been a complete success. Will be moving on to pace then from September, but I did manage an 8 miler at sub 7 min miles last night so what Im doing is definitely working thank god. Meditation has seriously helped, I have to say. How are you sorted for your race?

Just ridiculous times. Very pleased for you. I've started running at lunchtime - 5 miles. Then at weekends either 10 or 13. 10m in October, aiming for 1.25 Then the big old Marathon in May. With any luck 3.45 but in reality 4 hours I'd be happy with. Have slowed down a bit on my half marathons recently. But still under 2. Need to get back to 1.54 again somehow.
