Absolute nasty cough all week which has completely sidelined me for a few days. Already down 20 miles this week, but need to focus on the upcoming miles and not the lost ones.
Hopefully will be on my feet tomorrow night. Literally nothing else wrong with me, just this stupid cough that loads of others seem to have.

Not been able to run this week with being away. But been doing about 25000 steps every day so don't think it'll take too much to get back. Very jealous of the 1000s of French runners I've been passing. They're quite literally insane (in the Seine).

Okay, I've decided to lose some weight.
Gonna take up swimming 2 or 3 times a week. It's the only form of exercise I can abide. I have to enjoy it to stick with it. I've brought several treadmills over the years, tried the gym, tried running... gave it all up because I kept waiting for that elusive moment where the feel-good endorphines kicked in and it never came. The only physical exercise I enjoy is swimming, so I'm going to try and stick at that.
Feel free to quote/tag/shame this post in three months time when I've already given up.

Like Tony said, all it takes is But good for you! It is NOT easy. Most people don't like running and I can see why so don't bother with it. Swimming is great all round for all parts of the body too, and gives you a great feeling. There's never any shame in here, I get very motivated seeing how far Tony has come. Even seeing posts like this give me a buzz.

I feel quite good about finally doing something about it. I just hope I can have the self-discipline. I'm thinking about trying to pay for a years membership upfront to guilt me into it when I inevitably start feeling like I can't arsed. Although I do enjoy swimming, the main thing that has held me back until now is not wanting to give up what precious little free time I have, but I saw a really bad picture of myself without my top on the other day and I felt ashamed and like something really had to be done about it.

I do know from people that paying up front is no guarantee to keep you motivated, that has to come from yourself. I equate it to when I tried to give up cigarettes to save money. It didn't work, until I decided for myself and my health. But all you need to do is take every thing really slowly. No one gives a shit about how slowly you take things but you. Just look for the small wins everywhere you see them. Remind yourself how great it feels to do X when you are considering skipping it. Something Ive taken to as of this year is keeping a diary with me, not for training but to just jot down what im thinking/feeling and youd be surprised what hits the paper. Im finding this is motivating me to get out there for not only physical health but for my own silly head. That precious free time put to good use will lead to precious time in the future feeling healthier! Thats a shame, dont be ashamed but I know a lot of Yogis/fitness gurus use the photo method where they get you to take pics of yourself at the start and then compare yourself along the way. You might find that photo could be a driving force. A negative one perhaps, but Im all about turning negative energy into fuel. Mentally and physically. I'm always up trying to help motivate if Im ever asked though. Anyone can motivate. No force of nature can break your will to self motivate

Then I kept looking at it and it prompted my decision to take up swimming. I thought again about deleting it this morning and then I figured nobody's gonna see this but me and everytime I look at it, it spurs me on to do something about it, so in some respects, it may be the best picture of me ever taken. Love the HIStory quote btw. I'll let you know how I get on. Maybe this thread will help spur me on too.

I'd shy away from the membership thing. It may work but if you do stop for any reason you have double guilt that you wasted that money.
Having said that, it may be the motivation you need and work a treat.
You can expect many a helpful post from me like this on here.

A week of nothing. Back at it today. Stupid cough gone. Went for a physio session last night too to get 2 birds with one stone. Didn't realise my calves were in BITS. He barely touched them and I was in ribbons. Feeling good. Heavy.
Costly week to miss tbh
Up and at them

TonyR @innuendo141 I'm thinking my wife should become an unmotivational speaker. Asking her if I should bother spending money on a membership for the swimming pool, these are her replies: Fiona And life’s busy as it is Fiona U won’t keep it up Fiona It’s a waste of money
