TonyR @innuendo141 I'm thinking my wife should become an unmotivational speaker. Asking her if I should bother spending money on a membership for the swimming pool, these are her replies: Fiona And life’s busy as it is Fiona U won’t keep it up Fiona It’s a waste of money "No force of nature can break your will to self-motivate" Yeah, but you're not married mate.

"No force of nature can break your will to self-motivate" Yeah, but you're not married mate. Well I'm not, but I'm only one of two not married on our team, and I would be the least fit by a large margin. I wasn't trying to be patronising, you either want to do something or you don't. If you want to let a negative attitude affect you, you will regardless of being married or not. Was simply posting an MJ lyric.

^^ I know that song has special significance for Nigel, as it does for me.
Having said that, I think I knew that was going to be Fiona's response, and if I'm being truly honest with myself, I was seeking out that response as encouragement not to do it. LOL

Definitely need to increase my runs from next week. Distance is fine (doing minimum 13m at weekend), but should be out at least 4 times a week and only doing 3.
Pace isn't improving.
Got a proper half marathon week on Sunday which should be good.

Got a proper half marathon week on Sunday which should be good. You do a few 5 milers, so you should be doing 3 milers at a quicker pace. Or what you could do is take your 5 miler and do 1 warmup and 3 quick pace and a cooldown. That's the only way you will pick up pace. Same with your long runs. If you can do x amount at your desired pace from time to time, it will help towards it. 3 times a week isn't bad by any means but for a comfortable marathon it should be at least 4. 1 of those should have some quick miles and then 1 long run. You're doing fine though. Sunday will be a good test of where you are.

Approaching unchartered territory training wise from this weekend on. The longest training run (outside of a virtual/training marathon" I've ever done is 22, max 23 miles. 24 miles to do tomorrow which ill increase to 30 over the coming weeks, totaling at least 40 miles over a weekend for several weeks. Ultra training really is a different beast.
Will sure as hell be a big mental test!

Very sore today. 24 miles went good but struggled to complete 5 yesterday on what should have ben a rest day (swapped my saturday and sunday because I had a christening). Right leg quite sore with a niggle but will get through it. After entering a very new period of training now. Essentially a marathon a week for the next 6 weeks. Keep forgetting I should be running at a much slower pace for this event.
Really enjoying it though, good weather is half the battle and the weekend was lovely and fresh out! Hopefully the leg will sort itself by tonight cos she needs to be back on the road tomorrow.

Gonna follow a 1hr 45 pace I think.

Something went wrong. Turned back before 4 miles. You win some you lose some.
Off for the weekend and will regroup and hit back at it again and fix whatever's happened.
Disappointed, but will take something from it.

Disappointed, but will take something from it. Nothing serious I hope. Did my last 5 mile before the race today lunchtime. Wish me luck for Sunday.

1 hrs 51.
95% chuffed.
Smashed first 7 miles following an 8min pacer but lost it after that for a bit and had a tough couple of miles.
Was gutted when the 1hr 50 pacer overlapped me at last 2 miles and I had nothing left to keep up.
Still a personal best though!!
