Fair play Tony. I was doing well during the summer, got within 3 seconds of my best 5k time during off season but with no races I found it very hard to stay motivated. I decided to run a marathon around my village last month and was surpised at how fit I was considering the lack of training I did, but since then it's been one thing after the next. Back running as of last week but only 30 miles. Hoping to increase that to 40 this week, with the intention of doing another marathon around the village Christmas weekend (a virtual one) just to give myself something to focus on. We were supposed to have cross country championships at the start of November but they obviously were postponed. Not sure when the next race will be. I'm registered for Rome marathon in April which there's no way will happen. I have found that a large part of me that keeps me motivated and in good humour is running and competing, so the lockdown has been very tough mentally but I'm not the only one! 'Only 30 miles ' I'm a long distance runner so it's way different!

Did it! Only 3 miles but found it easy and no stops.
Felt could have gone further but thought don't overdo it, stick to the planned route as was first one for over 5 months.
Will go again Sunday.

6 miles today.
Rubbish times as exactly 60 minutes. But not too bothered about times now more how long I can be out.
Really pleased that in last 3 weeks I've got from 25 minutes to 45 to 60.
Did have an ace playlist though which always helps.

Its good youre getting quicker, but its how youre feeling afterwards/the next day is more important. No point getting faster and having it negatively impact something else. Great progress though.

I need to get some earphones. I've never found the perfect pair. Any recommendations?
I want ideally Bluetooth that stay in during runs. With easy controls for volume amd skipping.
I have to wear gloves a lot as my hands get really cold so the controls have to be very manageable.
I've been through so many pairs and none are perfect. Don't want to spend loads though. You know, cos I'm Jewish and that.

I run with my phone in my hand when I do, in a waterproof seal thing. I'm not that hip when it comes to music running technology.

Hit 46 miles this week. Registered for a virtual marathon over Christmas week today to give myself something to look forward to. Plan to run up the mountain near me twice to make the 26 miles. I'm far from where I was speed/pace wise but I'm looking forward to this challenge. I try run up once a week, bout 1,000 feet.
I listened to The Supremes live in Detroit '66 which was lovely.

That's awe inspiring. I can't imagine it. Well, I can imagine it, obviously. I never listen to full albums always playlists. I need each track to be an upbeat banger. Do you find slow songs slow you down? Or is that just amateurs?!

I usually pick an album an listen to it in full unless it doesn't work. For example last week I had to switch albums from the Live Queen and Adam Lambert one cos I wasnt enjoying it at all. Purple Rain and Bad are albums I listen to in full a lot.

If not then Tuesday as have a day off. You need any more info? See if you can do 3 miles at a slightly quicker pace on Tuesday. Say, 9-9.30 mile? Its not about speed, but the quicker pace will make longer slower runs way easier. Then aim to do 6 miles at the same pace as your 5.5. Your practically at 10k, well done.

Hit 55 miles this week so very happy. Will be at 60+ this week, with a 20 miler planned for the weekend as the last long run before the marathon over Christmas.
Yesterday was an example of music being a distraction. Wasn't too invested in my choice when setting out (King of Pop Deluxe) and found myself messing and swapping a lot for the first 45 mins/ hour. I wished I had left it at home. Once I hit the top of the mountain it was all good and finished the King of Pop album.
Had a savage Chinese last night then to "recharge". I just wanted loads of food.
