Did my first ever half marathon yesterday.

Justifiably proud methinks.

I’m a chocolate bar away from diabetes right now. I’m done eating crap and using the lockdown as the excuse. I can’t say I’m going to be running 13 miles anytime soon but I’m going to start back with a daily walk and try to get in 10 thousand steps or as close as I can each day and honestly done with all the junk food. You lose your libido with a gut and overall motivation.

Did a last minute virtual marathon today. Had planned on listening to Dangerous, HIStory and BOTDF but the earphones died just as Smile finished.

Did a last minute virtual marathon today. Had planned on listening to Dangerous, HIStory and BOTDF but the earphones died just as Smile finished. Your pace is fucking ridiculous. Seriously impressive. Just entered my first proper race. A 10k. Have had to be careful recently as hurt my knee 10m miles into a half marathon.

I've been struggling with training for a while, so I entered this to see how I could go by taking it handy. Have a half marathon in a month now, and the hope is to break 1hr 20, after today I'm encouraged. My legs are tired now, but I seem to be OK fitness wise. Oh sweet. 10k is a different beast, short enough to be able to enjoy (halves are just a bit long to say the same for). Knees arent to be messed with so, stretches etc. Hopefully far away enough to recover fully?

It was 3 weeks when I hurt it so only been doing 5 or 6 miles since, which was great as found my pace quickened and I beat 9 minute miles for the first time (albeit 8.59!) Did 8 today which was slower but my knee didn't bother me so fingers crossed.

Surprised myself. 4 miles in 35.03 8.46 a mile!! Fair play Tony. What's your goal for the 10k? I'll be honest and say I'm enjoying my last 3 days off from running watching documentaries, soccer and listening to 90's Michael Jackson on the couch.

I want to be around 56 mins ideally. I've done it that time before once or twice so hoping the thrill of the day will buoy me along.

Yeah it sounds like you should get that and go under if you've done it before. I suppose the main thing is keeping the leg injury free and you should be golden. I'd recommend some 200, 400 and 800 metre intervals if you hadn't been injured but I'd leave it a while. What I would recommend is 1 mile on 1 mile off though. First mile very easy, second mile your planned race pace etc.
