Is Taj for fucking real! He's a disgrace! 😡🙄
Jin deserves all the support Taj got but who knows if he will get the fund he needs to pull his documentary through.

It's very unfortunate that Taj has put himself in this position. He would be best to put up his hands now and say "I got in way over my head, I am so sorry" and give the money to Jin or anyone else that actually has the capabilities. I don't think Taj's actions (or lack thereof) can be defended anymore by anyone. It's basically fraud.

"Ha, this amateur thought he could make something to debunk MY crappy "film"....what a fool!" He's gonna keep stringing this out, unfortunately. I'd like him to prove us wrong on that though. Mind you, I don't think he could just give the money to Jin as he'll have to refund all donations. How many of them would be prepared to donate to Jin after the experience with Taj is anyone's guess too. Erosion of trust can seep down to fan initiative projects, unfortunately.

What do you reckon will come first, Taj's doc or Jordan's recant?
My money is on death coming before we see either.

Oh, I did not know TJ had a podcast or that Taj was making regular appearances. When he appeared on podcasts late last year, Taj said that he has reasons for not providing regular updates and that he finds it frustrating too. But even if that's true, surely he could simply say that he is working on the doco (without going into specifics) when asked what he's up to. At best, he's doing work but just completely botching the communication with his backers. But I think most do not really believe that anymore at this point. I probably mentioned it here before, but I remember he once mentioned that he could not work on the documentary because he had to organize a birthday party for his daughter, seemingly unaware of how bizarre that sounds. Similarly, he's talked about the Halloween party at Hayvenhurst as though it is a full time, nearly year-long project. I realize that it's a bigger event than your average Halloween party, but I've heard him (seemingly unironically) say that he's 'recovering' from it even weeks after it took place. I don't want to blame the guy for that, he's grown up in a very different world to that of the average person and I do think his intentions are positive. But of course things are different when you collect 250k from people, and people have every right to ask questions or be pissed off. If he fails to deliver on the project again this year, after explicitly committing to a hard deadline he himself set, then it really seems best to just face the music and pull the plug. Mind you, I don't think he could just give the money to Jin as he'll have to refund all donations. How many of them would be prepared to donate to Jin after the experience with Taj is anyone's guess too. Erosion of trust can seep down to fan initiative projects, unfortunately. Surely he cannot, he would indeed have to refund his backers. I think people actually already have a very strong case for getting their money back, as he really changed the nature of the project after he collected the money. But people have been incredibly lenient with him. Just imagine how massive the outrage would be at this point if he was not a Jackson?

When he appeared on podcasts late last year, Taj said that he has reasons for not providing regular updates and that he finds it frustrating too. Finds frustrating what? That he's not making any progress? That's his own doing. Nothing he offered as an excuse is a good enough excuse any more. COVID restrictions are long gone and even while the pandemic was on he could still have made progress. The only thing he couldn't do was traveling and making interviews as freely, but he could have used that time to research (he doesn't sound well versed in the allegations to me) and creating a clear concept for his documentary. I doubt even that happened. When you read his 5 updates so far on his GoFundMe page (the last more than a year old!) he hardly ever provides anything concrete about what he's actually doing. The most concrete thing he said is that he went through some home movies. That's it. And probably that's all he's done so far. Why? COVID was an obstacle for Jin too, yet he has 70 hours of raw interviews now. How many does Taj have? And he's actually in a way more privileged position than Jin to get access to people, due to his name and due to him living in LA, closer to most people they need to interview. But Taj didn't even lift his behind to attend court. When there were court hearings in the Wade case fans told him when they are going to take place but he didn't show up. Dan Reed all the way from London did. Jin also attended some hearings and I believe he doesn't live in LA (I think he's British?). These guys needed to travel to get there and Taj, living close couldn't even brother to lift his behind and pay a visit! I'm not saying essential or Earth shattering stuff happened during those hearings, but just his attitude, disinterest and/or laziness is very telling to me. And then the very little progress he's made so far is amateurish. I have seen nothing so far that sounds promising. A cringe title that no broadcaster could ever take seriously. A budget rip off of the HIStory album cover that looks like he photoshopped it together in 5 minutes. BTW, he doesn't even think it through that the cover art needs to be representative of the content. So if your declared goal is to humanize MJ you shouldn't go with a cover that shows him as a statue. I could go on. Apparently he created an IMDB page for it (at least I guess he created it) and nowhere does the summary ever mention it's going to address the allegations. It just sounds like "The Life of an Icon" part 2. m.imdb.com/title/tt21109636/Oh, IIRC his "reason" to not give updates was that "Hollywood" and "the powers that be" are out to sabotage his project and that's why he supposedly can't give updates and has to keep everything top secret. Conspiratorial BS. Just the type of mindset we do NOT need around any documentary that we want to be taken seriously.

If only Jin could have just half of it, we would already have a documentary. And the kind that fans actually tried to support when they donated to Taj, not this fluff piece that Taj seems to have moved towards since. Funny you say this since Jin recently announced he has to halt production due to a lack of funds... figures the one that actually looks good is being held up. Link to the GoFundMe in case anyone wants to donate or at least have a link to share: www.gofundme.com/f/themjstorydocThanks for sharing, I just donated. It's so important that this story gets told and it's better if it doesn't come from a family member imo. Hopefully there will be more documentaries or articles like this in the future and it reaches the general public. It sucks that Taj is sitting on a pile of money while this guy had to halt production due to lack of funds.

The best part of 5 years now? And still nothing! Many of us have given him the benefit of the doubt but it’s gone on too long now. I’ll happily donate to Jin at the end of the month and we need to demand our donations back as we gave that money in good faith and Taj has not honoured his obligations. We’ve seen nothing in return for this. This project is a dead end. To put this into context, Peter Jackson made his Lord of The Rings trilogy in 6 years! And it’s taken Taj almost 5 years for what??

This is such a bummer to think about. For now, I'm going to continue to file it under "Taj means well" in my head.
I didn't even stop to think about how much he's collected though. I had no idea it was so much.
It's really bothersome when I think about what others pointed out regarding how little Jin needs by comparison.

Unfortunately, it's time for people to start asking for money back. It's too significant an amount of money to sit back and let him provide silly updates every 9 or 10 months. That will either get his arse in gear and into action (at this point, I have 0 interest in what he is working on. The horse has bolted), or let reality set in that he has set himself up for a nasty fall.

Imagine the media getting to run headlines that insinuate fanns had to ask for refunds because Michael couldn't be proven innocent. I kinda wonder if that's something Taj is banking on; the fact that many fans wouldn't want the media picking this up.

Imagine the media getting to run headlines that insinuate fanns had to ask for refunds because Michael couldn't be proven innocent. I kinda wonder if that's something Taj is banking on; the fact that many fans wouldn't want the media picking this up. That reminds me of that scam Randy and Karen Faye pulled in 2005. They set up an "official MJ website" promising fans all kinds of exclusives, fan packs, a chance to meet with MJ if they paid a certain amount of money. Then they didn't deliver anything. They just pocketed the money. MJ had nothing to do with it. He had other things to worry about, he was on trial fighting for his life. Fans were very angry when they realized they had been scammed by Randy and Karen, but they refrained from suing because they knew that the media would turn it against MJ somehow and that was the last thing MJ needed at the time. Now, I don't want to say Taj is like Randy. I think what Randy pulled was a deliberate scam. I don't think Taj started this project thinking he wouldn't deliver. It unintentionally might end up the same way though due to Taj's incompetence and lack of self awareness. But he's an adult man. If he realizes in the hindsight he bit off more than what he can chew he should man up, apologize and refund people. That's what he should do to not look like a scam. Even if he eventually delivers something I somehow doubt it's going to be a film justifying the budget or something that fans wanted for their money. And just think about how his funding goal on GoFundMe was $777,000. How did he even come up with that sum? I doubt he did a budget calculation, he doesn't seem that methodic. It just looks like he chose this number because MJ liked 777. And if he spent it on other things than the film (like paying his bills or financing his own life) then it is a scam whether he intended it that way initially or not. The bare minimum for him would be to close the donation page, so that people stop donating to it. There are still donations flowing in and I don't know why when he claimed some time ago that he doesn't need the donations any more because he supposedly got some sponsor. Yet, he didn't close the page, let alone refund people. There was some reasoning to this from his circles (fans who are closer to him) that it's supposedly because he wants to add the list of donors to the credits at the end of his film and he needs to keep the names and that's why he doesn't close it supposedly. Which sounds like a BS excuse and I really hope it's not really coming from him. It all is a very bad look at this point on so many levels.

Oh that money is gone, but I was checking earlier and I think Taj is in breach of a few of GoFundMe's rules. However, it takes a significant amount of people to file a complaint/make a claim for a refund for anything to happen. I doubt it will happen, but he needs to be held accountable. His family have made much more than anyone that donated and this is an awful look for him.
