I do understand what you’re saying Respect and I agree with much of it. I just don’t want to get caught up in toxicity which seems to be pretty much what the MJ community has come to. I’m beginning to feel like I’ve had a lifetime’s worth of it. I agree with points made by pretty much everyone here. I’m just burned out from the whole thing.

Might be offensive but can anyone really tell if it's far off the mark at this point? Maybe it would help if Taj was more transparent... Nah this is gold! 😂👍🏼

I have a lot of empathy for Taj. At this point it feels like a vicious cycle he can't escape. The community always tends to be a little bit aggressive when Michael's family is involved. This, plus Taj probably lacking the skills to do this project how he imagines it. Time is ticking and the attacks from the community are getting more and more. People he could interview slowly dying away. It's just really ugly.
I still root for him and wish him the best. For all of us. Amen.

I believe the docu series is coming out before the end of the year just like Taj said. And I believe we haven't heard much more about it because the estate is planning to release all these projects strategically. That's why the thriller 40 doc was postponed as well. THey probably are going to release both as a precursor to the Biopic

They have every right to be a bit critical of him at this point. In fact, I think fans are rather patient with him. It would be a lot more nasty at this point if he didn't have that last name that protects him from a bigger fan outrage.

He's also created an unnecessary and unhealthy divide on social media between those who question Taj's lack of output/information and those who believe Taj shouldn't be questioned at all. Taj wants to remain in the echo chamber that he has created over the past few years, and it's likely this "echo chamber" mindset will translate onto the screen (this theory can also be backed up by the examples of chapters/episodes he gave). He has absolutely no one to blame but himself for any fan "turning" on him by asking a simple question.

Why should fans have sympathy that he is incapable of getting the job done? You can't promise you're going to do something, act as if you're capable and know what you're doing, take peoples money to fund it and then play the sympathy card when you can't deliver. You can have endless sympathy for someone's delusions, but when you've taken hundreds of thousands of dollars of other peoples money, it stops being cute.

The reason why fans are starting to become more vocal and more critical about him now is because he stopped delivering even updates. I know, I know his defenders keep saying he gave updates on podcasts like the Black Jackson Estate. But like said, people shouldn't sit through 2-3 hours podcasts in the hope that he would drop some information. And these "updates" are hardly updates at all. We are completely in the dark about what he's actually doing, where the project stands etc.
His earlier updates in 2019 were actually more concrete than they are now and he clearly seemed more motivated. Those "updates" (including the one where he promised weekly updates) are now deleted from his GoFundMe. I wonder why?

I agree with all of you! I just can't help but see things from his point of view, or at least what I ASSUME is going on. So I just feel bad for him and hope for the best. Of course I feel bad for us and Michael too. Nobody wins here. Also, I think we, as fans, should accept the fact that, in a way, we were already "scammed" because we won't get the thing we were promised in the beginning. It sucks that the whole concept changed, but personally, I'm okay with my money being used for some kind of documentary that probably shows more about Michael's personality, life, charity, etc. (yeah okay, I'm "okay" with it, because the cynic inside me is unable to really hop on any MJ hype train, I always expect the worst) However, it still sucks, and we all donated for a completely different project in the beginning. But the original concept is gone. Dead. The only things that can die next are our hopes and the potential interviews with people. And yeah, if he wouldn't be from this. family, it would be easier to deal with this. My current "expectations" are that I want to see a documentary that delves deeper than anything we have seen before. But even that probably won't happen. At all. It will likely focus on Michael being a good guy with a good heart, doing good things. And if we're really lucky, there will be a lot of footage we've never seen before. BUT I'M NOT EVEN THINKING THAT'S REALISTIC EITHER because it feels like all MJ footage is lost. So yeah, the whole thing is just awful and can't really get any better. The best content and research still come from the fans, and I guess that will always be the case. (Not to mention that something like this would be better from a more neutral source, not always fans or family). tl;dr: I still root for Taj and I hope he learns something about the way he communicates things. Good thing I'm such an optimist!!!!!!111111!!11!!11!!1111

Here you can see a lot of his updates from 2019: michaelmaniaforum.com/BOARD/viewtopic.php?t=7648But when you go to his GoFundMe now, the earliest is from December 2020. You can tell at the time he was motivated. But that motivation seems to have evaporated now.

It will likely focus on Michael being a good guy with a good heart, doing good things. Exactly what Dan Reed is looking forward to. Remember when fans pointed out his film is one sided and should have shown the other side of the argument, he cynically replied: "What's the other side? That he was a good guy?" Of course not. Of course, we have tons of material that the general public was simply never allow to see by the media about these cases. But Taj is walking right into a trap Reed wants him to walk into: a fluff piece that tries to convince the audience of his innocence by fallacious arguments such as that he did a lot of charity and he was a good man. Or that he kissed Stephanie Mills at 18. I'm even at the point now that I don't even want Taj to do a doc now (just repay the money do that I can give it to Jin) because it may end up being more harmful than good. It may end up being a laughing stock for Reed, haters and the media and them being able to say: Is this your defense? And here's the is the maddening thing. He has so many things offered to him on a silver plate. A large portion of the work already done by fans, he just needs to make a accessible narrative of it. He also has the name that opens doors for him that never would be open to fans. He lives in LA. Close to most people having to do with the case. He has fans offering him their free time and free work capacity. Yet he is failing. I can't with this level of incompetence and/or laziness.

I never donated to this, not because I'm a cheapskate and certainly not because I don't care about the cause, but for me, I feel the only thing of any value from a documentary like this would be a recant or confession from the first two accusers. That would be the only thing that would attract the attention of the media and the non-fans and potentially challenge what people think they know about MJ and the allegations.
I never believed Taj could make this happen and that's no fault of his own. It is also the only way a pro-MJ documentary made by a Jackson family member would be seen as anything other than a puff piece by non-fans. It needed something game changing and explosive and the more tidbits Taj shared, the more it seemed like not only was it not going to be that, but it didn't even look like it was going to be well made. If it ever does see the light of day, I would bet my life savings it won't be anything a non-fan would have any interest in and will likely be a retread of fans like Danny Wu, Jin and respects hard work.
