So I just finished Part 3 and I'm honestly speechless. That was absolutely incredible. That rooftop concert got me emotional man. Seeing these songs go from nothing but scraps, to being developed over time and seeing them perform the finished pieces, as people crowded the streets to hear, and climbed rooftops and scaffolds to get a glimpse of them. Not even afraid to admit I just swelled up with emotion and got teary-eyed. All the little moments from that final episode like little Heather running about the studio, John joking about eating kittens with her, George helping Ringo out with Octupus' Garden, the crew at Apple Studios deliberately acting clueless to help keep policemen at bay, the policeman ordering Mal Evans to turn off George's amp, to which George just basically goes "fuck that" and turns it right back on in plain view of the coppers. I fucking love that man. Also on a side note, why don't the policemen have straps that actually go underneath their chins, rather than just sit at the top? They look so stupid, not very authoritative haha, but I digress. Was it long? Sure, but the fan in me didn't care. Peter Jackson, Michael Lindsay-Hogg (when filming) and everyone else did us an incredible favour by treating this project with the sheer passion and care that it was. How often do we get to see musicians this candidly, to this extent and length? It makes for a great documentary not just in The Beatles, sure, but the actual topic of creativity too. Let It Be isn't even close to my most favourite Beatles record, but I'd say this album has definitely help give me more appreciation for the original version. I want to go sit down and give Glyn John's original version another try too now to see if I'll like that more. But here's another thing, this isn't even The Beatles at their most revolutionary or influential - just imagine if this was all done for something like Revolver or Magical Mystery Tour or Sgt. Peppers???!!!
The Beatles fan within me has been utterly spoiled the last few years, man. From deluxe editions of their work together and solo to remastered Blu-rays to new books to new documentaries. I mean wow.
God they make me so happy. They're just the fucking best. I just finished an 8 hour documentary and I just want to get back (yeah I know) and watch it all over!!

I second every word here. I actually plan on having this on in the background while I work this week! I keep forgetting bits that I loved because there were so many. Two Of Us sung through their teeth is an absolute highlight! I went to watch the Let It Be film last night, but 3 mins in I shut it off. I'll bathe in this for a while before I compare what Michael went with vs. what he could have. I keep thinking about it during the day. Im surprised at how many of the solo material was drifting around during these sessions/rehearsals too, like Gimme Some Truth, Backseat of my Car, Jealous Guy.

As for Let It Be, I honestly don't really have any interest in watching it again. I did read they were going to offer a remastered version of it somewhere down the line so when that comes out I might give it a rewatch, but I don't have an interest in an ugly bootleg.
While I do not care much for that film, I really do respect Michael Lindsay-Hogg for still getting us this footage in the first place. While Peter Jackson may have done a much better job distilling it down (and to be fair to MLH, he did have a lot more restrictions than PJ), we simply wouldn't have this footage today if he didn't shoot it the way he did.
I must say though. I cracked up when I saw Taika Waititi tweeting about him! 😂😂
As for solo material, I'm surprised Paul actually helped out with Gimme Some Truth! Paul was genuinely surprised too and actually outright denied to Peter Jackson when Peter told him about the footage. Peter had to whip out his iPad and show Paul before Paul actually believed him lol. It was wonderful getting an early insight into those tracks. My friend and I lit right up when Back Seat Of My Car came on! My other friend who watched with us hit me up today, asking me to help her get into their solo material, so I made her a good ol' Spotify playlist and off she went!
Also can we just talk about how HAPPY Mal Evans was when he got to bang the hammer for Maxwell's Silver Hammer? He looked like he was having the time of his life LOL! I just love the way Paul also is like "Mal, we should get a hammer. And an anvil." and Mal's just looks like "...wait what?". Somehow, he pulls it off the same day like it's nothing! What a lad.

I thought it went without saying that Ringo aside, Mal was the absolute star of this production? Surely!? Everytime one of the four shouted "Mal?!" I laughed, but Maxwell is one of the absolute highlights. Funny enough, it's in the first few minutes of Let It Be before I turned off, and Get Back just makes that part SO much better because you are already introduced to Mal and what he does. What a man! I thought it was interesting that in the final part, George waited (it seems) until Paul leaves for lunch to tell Lennon that he's interested in doing an album of all his own songs.

Watched part 3 today, what a doc that was.
I loved the legitimately never ending list of excuses they kept coming up with to keep the police downstairs lol.

Debbie Wellum was absolutely hilarious here. This was borderline "Carry On" movie stuff 🤣 I did enjoy how that 13 year old copper kept messing with that silly chin strap in his mouth like a... 13 year old

I really more than anything wanted to finish part 3 tonight but my eyes are playing up so I’ve had to postpone it until tomorrow evening. I’ve been listening to the 50th Anniversary album remaster today in the car to and from work and loving it. Enjoying reading everyone’s comments.
I’ve enjoyed Matthew Street’s reviews/recaps of the first two parts also.
And his part 3 which I’ll watch when I finish the Doc tomorrow night

Transcript of the conversations from 13th January 1969, the day after the meeting took place at George's house. There are more of these posts littered after here on the thread but I haven't read them yet, but it goes into more detail just how Paul saw things on that day. Part 1 THE BEATLES -"GET BACK" film directed by Peter Jackson on Disney+
Part 2 THE BEATLES -"GET BACK" film directed by Peter Jackson on Disney+This is now my only gripe with the film, it seems disingenuous to present things the way they were in the film. Yoko was protected here for some reason, and Paul was kind of the scape goat here. She most certainly didn't break up the Beatles, but she definitely wasn't the innocent bystander the film made her out to be.

On another note, today marks 20 years to the day we lost George Harrison to cancer.
Rest in Peace man, and thank you for all the music ❤

Such a unique soul. RIP. Get BAck made me realise that I Me Mine is one of my favourite Harrison tunes, and one of my favourite LIB tunes. Wasn't aware the last "chorus" was doubled up in the studio.

I read it all and it doesn't really say anything the doc doesn't already say. Paul doesn't like her being at meetings and he'd rather she wasn't there when they're writing, that's all mentioned in the doc already. It's really just the same stuff that's already said being discussed more. If Peter gets to make a directors cut maybe more stuff will be included.

For instance, the complete uninterrupted rooftop concert would be worth the bluray alone. Then again, I've seen other posts suggesting the physical release is up to Apple. Full song performances would be great.

I would’ve loved to have seen the rooftop performance included in its entirety on the recent LIB expanded edition. Giles Martin recently explained why he didn’t include it all, but I disagree with his reasoning.
Rock Cellar: What was the thinking behind not including the entire rooftop performance? Is that because it will be included in the Peter Jackson film?
Giles Martin: Yeah. Yes, it’s in the film, and if there was no visual for it, I’d definitely put it in, but there is and the visual is great. So the same people that are gonna be interested in having the full rooftop performance would probably just rather see it than hear it, and the mix will be my mix, anyway, in the film. So the rooftop performance is in the film and concerts always sound much better when you can see them.
Sure I’d love to see it, but I also can’t always watch it. Why not let us have the best of both worlds? Especially since that was the point they were all working up to for this project.
Though I guess some of the performances were on Disc 1 anyway, and there’s the odd outtake released officially here or on Anthology 3 anyway so you could probably recreate most of it. Like the great, final take of Get Back on A3, where Paul changes up the lyrics to joke about getting arrested and what not heh.

I keep thinking about how MENTALLY on point they were on the roof to sound so well that they come across as studio recordings. Filmwise, the rooftop show is fantastic with the comments interwoven between the tunes and the cops kicking up a fuss. It all adds to the magic finale BUT... it would be great to be able to get an audio rip of the whole thing to have in that quality! We have some options anyways www.discogs.com/master/661755-The-Beatles-The-Complete-Rooftop-Concert

I'm not really bothered about the rooftop concert not being included in the deluxe edition. My main problem with it is that they didn't include a lot of the rehearsal stuff that would have been cool to have on there. I know Giles didn't really want to use a lot of it due to it being mono and I guess the same argument can be made for that as the rooftop "it's in the film" but yeah would have been cool.
