I don't really get why people continue checking out his work (not criticising any of you, as I too checked out the song). If the last four albums were mediocre, then why do we even bother listening to a single note of his new song? I guess that's the power of good marketing. He sort of pulls me in both directions. I've sung his praises before quite alot. I think his first few albums filled a gap for me where MJ had been. On Justified he did MJ, on Future Sex Love Sounds he did Prince and on his double 20/20 Experience he did both. Now here again in the new video he's doing a modern take on MJ's Ghosts. Atleast thats what I see. For me he's a decent support act but he's not a headliner. Perhaps I judged Filthy a little harshly but it's just not all that for me. But I do like something about his albums, perhaps because they've all felt like big releases with expectation and that sort of reminded me of MJ album releases. I'm curious about the new album and will give it a few listens before I have a real opinion. If it's good I'll say its good, if it's meh I'll say it's meh.

constipated broke George Michael reject track. this turkey is overrated and wack. corny Exactly. Filthy is bassically George Michael's Freeek 04! Between the actual track and the music video, it's all been done before but done better.

Justin Timberlake got the band back together for his fifth studio album, Man of the Woods, which will be released in less than a month (Feb. 2). J.T. teamed up with Timbaland and Danja once again, who were heavily involved in what many deem as Justin's best full-length work, 2006's FutureSex/LoveSounds.
Fans were puzzled after hearing "Filthy," which did not end up sounding like "campfires" and the "wild west," as Timberlake's wife, Jessica Biel, teased in the album's trailer. Complex's Frazier Tharpe caught up with Danja for a phone interview to get his perspective on the the creative process behind the futuristic-sounding "Filthy," in addition to tidbits regarding Man of the Woods.
Justin Timberlake's Blast From His 'Filthy' Recent Past: No, This Ain't the Clean (or Country) Version Danja became involved with the album at the top of 2017, and recently tweeted out the project's track-list with three songs underlined, which he likely had a role in crafting ("Filthy," "Sauce," and "Say Something"). The producer born Floyd Nathaniel Hills confirmed the trailer would be indicative of the album, and that "Filthy" set the tone to begin the cleansing process, explaining, "I like to think of 'Filthy' as the disruption between the world we're living in and his world... So, 'Filthy' was just that kick-in-the-door, 'I'm here, and oh by the way, let me erase everything that you've been listening to, let me disrupt the world order and kind of create a new world order,' with this world that he grew up in."
The Memphis native laid out strict parameters for the producers to follow, which were verbatim from the vibe Timberlake explained in the trailer. Danja quickly picked up the world J.T. was looking to bring them into, telling Complex, "He definitely knew what he wanted to do. I had parameters, I had guidelines. Myself and [Timbaland], we knew the world that we had to be in... And it was Memphis, and he put up a board in the studio that had influences from Memphis."
Justin Timberlake Announces Man of the Woods North American Tour Dates The "Shining" producer hinted that Justin's country-tinged "Drink You Away" could be a possible preview of what's to come with the Man of the Woods project, saying, "'Drink You Away' was, in a sense, a preview. If you want any idea, that would be the closest thing to what you might hear."
With chemistry between the "Sexyback" artist, Timbo and Danja already established, the trio executed similar creative strategies used to craft prior albums together, but the Virginia native was quick to explain how heavily involved Timberlake is as a producer. "He’d hop on guitar or whatever -- he’s very hands-on. Justin is a producer, he’s not just labeled as one because he’s the biggest name and it’s his album," the 35-year-old continued. "He’s actually hands-on, he’ll hit some keys, play guitar, he plays on a lot of this album. He’s a musician. He didn’t just sit back and let us do our thing and figure it out. We figured it out together."
Check out the interview in its entirety over at Complex. Man of the Woods drops Feb. 2.

This is what I personally would describe as a non song. Says nothing at all indeed.

Is he serious with this new album? So far it's been very underwhelming. Like neither of the songs on it are finished.

I like Filthy and I feel like it has potential... but that's just it. I feel it doesn't reach the potential it could and therefore it lacks.
Supplies should've remained in the vault.
Say Something is nice but nothing stand out-ish... though mind you I've only played it twice.
On the whole I'm not really feeling it so far, which sucks because the dude can make some really good jams. I enjoyed The 20/20 Experience much more than this. Certainly it's singles - Suit & Tie, Mirrors (especially), TKO, Take Back the Night etc were much better.

Supplies is definitely the worst. I could hardly make it through. Filthy and Say Something are just repetitive and boring.

This is what I personally would describe as a non song. Says nothing at all indeed. Ooooh, he's learned to play a chord progression on the guitar. It's a good job Prince is no longer around, as he would be quaking in his pointy heels at the sheer musicianship!

You guys are so petty Say Something is a decent song but I think the video was doing too much, with the credits and the applause at the end and stuff. Basically it's just Justin and some other guy singing and playing guitar in an old house. Nothing revolutionary but that's fine. I gave Filthy another chance since people are saying it grows on you after listening to it several times but the song just doesn't do anything for me. It's so boring and unmelodic (if that's a word). I forgot how it went as soon as the song ended. The concept for the video is cool though. I haven't heard Supplies yet, I'll check it out later.
