TMZ is now reporting that he's going to use a Prince hologram during the Halftime Show.
Uhoh, that's NOT gonna go down well if true.

So after he got a posthumous collaboration with MJ, now he will have one with Prince too? This starts to become a bit tacky.
ETA: Oh, I see the SB is in Minneapolis this year and it is said to be a tribute to Prince in his home town.
BTW, now that I have listened to his new album I think he should perform his old hits at the SB. It is just not a good album. I did not hear one song on it that I liked. In fact, I could hardly wait for it to be over.

And let's not forget this:
Hopefully it's nothing more than a stupid rumor....

^ Oh, if Prince expressed such a strong opinion against it then JT should really not do it. Disrespectful.

Why will Prince estate allow it if he was so strongly against it? If JT performs along side a Prince hologram, not only JT will disrespect his wishes, his own estate too.

Since when did we start taking TMZ articles as gospel?!

Since when did we start taking TMZ articles as gospel?! Not everything TMZ reports is gossip crap, they're factual as well. They were the first ones who reported about MJ's death and with all the sorrow pain in the world, it turned out to be true.

The Prince Estate has confirmed there won't be a hologram. Phew!

BTW, now that I have listened to his new album I think he should perform his old hits at the SB. It is just not a good album. I did not hear one song on it that I liked. In fact, I could hardly wait for it to be over. Genuine question: Do you actually like any of Justin's music? If so, what songs/albums? Just genuinely curious because I get the feeling that you and a number of others here just aren't into him, so I guess it's unsurprisingly that people who aren't fans of him would not be into his music anyway (but props on you for actually giving it a chance). And let's not forget this: Hopefully it's nothing more than a stupid rumor.... So cringey demonic references aside, I find it weird that Prince would go on about having a vault of unreleased material and express this opinion, but then lack the foresight to not only have no will, but also having nothing in his contract with the record label that stipulates no posthumous releases. I mean I'm not a lawyer so I don't know the ins-and-outs of record contracts, but he is Prince so he'd have some say I imagine. He wants artistic control but goes to no steps to actually enforce it? I mean I guess if they release songs as Prince left them it doesn't come under this 'umbrella', but there's bound to be a posthumous remix or duet someday. As for the hologram, I'm really not sure how I feel on that. Assuming the rumour was real... probably not too keen in all honesty, but if it came off cool and realistic well then that would be something technically cool. I saw the other day JT was going on about incredible Prince was at a press conference for the SuperBowl, but he was asked directly about him by a reporter.

I'm not a fan, but I have some of his songs on my big Mixtape playlist on Spotify. Well, I checked it now, I just have FutureSex/LoveSound. LOL. I used to have some others, but I guess I deleted them by now, because I got bored of them or something. So no, I am not a big fan of his, but I don't think you have to be to be able to tell if an album is weaker than his past releases. I think his peak was his first two solo albums, especially the second, but generally I don't consider him as great as his hype is.

^That's cool, I was just wondering. Only because if you didn't actually like any of his past songs, then I'd be like well of course you wouldn't really like this album, but given you like some of his past work that's not the case here

The Minnesota Star Tribune (biggest newspaper in Minneapolis) says that an NFL source confirmed to them that the hologram performance is on and that a rehearsal on Friday included it. Sheila E. says she spoke to JT directly and that he told her there wouldn't. Mike Scott (NPG, will be performing with JT) has also said there won't be.
It's pretty odd. I wonder if they did have the plan but cancelled it due to the negative reactions to the rumour.

Was that Prince image a projection or a hologram? Prince appeared like a minute or so and didn't watch it closely.
I saw pieces of JTs performance and I couldn't believe he's in his late 30s and his choreographies look like he's in a boyband. -_-
