I think she is amazing. Some people commented ( I think two years ago ) how her music did not age well. But it has appeal to be because of that. I like listening to WHYDFML or The Knowledge and hear those 80s drum machines. warms my heart. I like her sweet voice too. and she harmonizes with herself so beautifully (its a Jacksons trademark). In terms of singing I think she is sort of like an RNB / Dance version of Lana del Rey or Enya (all of which I love). They sound great in the studio but live singing is not their strongest traits. And that is fine. Some people are studio singers. nothing wrong with that.

I saw Janet on The Velvet Rope tour in Birmingham, and if I'm being perfectly honest, by about three quarters of the way through the show, I was bored and waiting for it to end.
There was no atmosphere at all. Just being honest.

The HIStory show I saw had more atmosphere than any gig I've ever been to. I guess the size of the venue didn't help. Despite queuing for fricking ages to try & get a good view at Wembley I somehow ended up over half way back so was pretty flat. And at Sheffield I was half way back on the side seated area so same again. Back to Janet though, was in front row for the janet show & that was one of the best ever. TVR was a little less impactful admittedly. Problem Janet had in Europe was that it was a stadium style show in an indoor venue which didn't always gel.

I was three quarters of the way back at Wembley for the one show I saw, and it was electric. Living down on the farm, we did a coach trip and I remember getting on the coach afterwards and some overweight American woman who looked like Anne Hegerty from The Chase got on and said "well, wasn't that the best thing you've just ever ever seen?". Maybe you were harder to please after having seen MJ so many time before. The HIStory show was not only my first and only time of seeing MJ in concert, but also my first ever live show of anybody. Even though he was a dot on the stage, I can honestly say nothing has ever lived up to it for me.

You know from seeing him on the Bad tour, Dangerous tour, that time at the VMAs, when he went round my Grandma's house for dinner, the picnics at the park...

Been through this before but one of the reasons why Janet faded is the lack of great material after 1997. She would have recovered after the Superbowl if she was releasing anything with the quality of 86 to 97. But it was mostly bad. Michael recovered as HIStory was so amazing so people still mostly bought into it. Don't forget most people outside the US didn't give a crap about the Superbowl yet Janet still didn't sell. That's because she didn't release anything of interest. I tried to follow her career as long as I could but every album after TVR just got worse and worse. And I don't mean Invincible worse, (as in not a patch on her best but still very good), I mean unlistenable worse. But at her height, Rhythm Nation and Janet, she was amazing. Music era wise 1992-1994 with singles from Dangerous, janet and Erotica all riding the charts was one of my favourite eras ever in music. Would you not include Control? I think that's probably my 2nd favourite

It was just downright offensive and all kinds of wrong. At one point I held the singles from Control and Rhythm as companions to MJ’s Bad and Dangerous. They complemented them so well. I used to get such an MJ fix from Janet.

Control is okay.
That's all
Okay it's better than that but it's nothing compared to the next 2 albums.
Don't think it's aged too well
Sue me etc..
