Joseph Jackson has died

Michael and the siblings were the ones putting the food on the table when he joined the group and they started to have success. But especially Michael because he was the one who spent more hours working in the studio while the rest were playing outside.

Joe was Michael's father and played a major role in the person Michael grew up to be. IMO, that can't be denied

but it also can't be denied is that he was harsh and left scars (physical and emotionally) on his children, even maybe unbeknownst to himself

As for your claim that MJ made up the oiling up stuff. Of course, no one is above lying, but I have no reason to assume he made this up.

It seems to me that because your parents hit you, this defensiveness that you put up for Joseph is really a projection on your part and a defense of YOUR parents. No one is here to judge your parents. Only you know what they did or didn't do. We are not talking about them.

It's been repeated all across this thread that there are levels to discipline. There is a level where back in the day hitting children was indeed common. But Joseph went way beyond what was normal discipline even then. There is no any kind of discipline why mocking your child's appearance and crushing his self esteem is justified. There is no discipline when the psychological abuse of unashamedly cheating on your children's mother right before their eyes and then making them to lie for you to their mother is justified. What kind of "discipline" is that when you almost break your son's arm and threaten him so that he won't tell his mother about your cheating ass?

I can't believe that Jackson family apologists like you still question MJ's words about Joseph when you could see with your own eyes what kind of man he is. When only a couple of days after MJ's death all he cared about was promoting his shitty new record label. Live on CNN. You could tell Dom Lemon was shocked about the callousness he had just seen. Or when in an interview what MJ said about regurgitating every time Joseph entered the room was met with cynicism on Joseph's part and he answered "he regurgitated all the way to the bank". No one has that strong of a reaction at a persons presence just because he got some whoopings and normal level disciple. That right there speaks about abuse. As well as many other things. But MJ just exaggerated it? He is just whining about some "normal discipline"? Alright.

BTW, your argument is difficult to follow because you are flip-flopping so much. In one post you acknowledge Joseph even might have been sadistic but you excuse that with his own upbringing. Then in the next post you pretend again that we are just talking about normal discipline and whoopings that everyone got at the time. In what era was sadistic abuse alright and "normal"? One one occasion Bobby Taylor even pulled a gun on Joseph to defend the kids. Things must have been really bad for that to happen, don't you think?
