Endure and survive, Tony. I'm getting that fucking Ultra medal. It's just shite training is all. It's so long and time consuming and no sense of real achievement after a session. You dont get the same high as if doing hills or 800m sessions. I've lost a lot of speed as a consequence. Definite mental challenge from here on in but I'm able for it. Sean O Kane commented on my run lads. I got the reference. You'll look back on it with pride. Good news on the Seany. In bits today now. I can't ever see myself wanting to do this again. I have one more 30m next weekend (this weekend it's 12 Saturday/28 Sunday) but I think I might round the 30m to 31.7 to be able to say Ive done a 50km run. I remembered last night that I always knew this was going to be a mental challenge, but not in the way it's turned out. I felt quite good yesterday, and the first 15 flew by in minutes. Felt tired by 25 miles but the real mental struggle is how boring it is and how you don't really feel any physical benefit. There's no "yay" moment like there is when you do an 18 miler or a 22 miler in preparation for a marathon (that I've experienced yet). Obviously I'm pleased that I can run 30 miles or whatever, but from an athletic point of view I think it will take so long to recover after this to get back to race fitness. It's a very time consuming and demanding experience. Usually running is my "escape" but this feels like a chore now. All part of the mental struggle though.

4 weeks today, Marathon time.
Did 19m today. 2hr 55.
Tough, but knee okay at least.
Started to flag in last 4 or 5 and lost time. Hoping that a pacer and the atmosphere will keep me on track, but starting to lose a little hope in 4 hours now.

The atmosphere will surely help, and so will the pacer and those around you, but just remember that 4 hours is a fantastic time for a healthy person, even if you slip it doesn't matter a shred. You will be disappointed, you've put a lot of work in but at the end of the day you will have completed something special and proven that you can get through something incredibly physically difficult even if X, Y or Z is hurting you. Don't get bogged down on being worried about the time, put all of your energy and efforts into being as positive as you can to give yourself the absolute best shot you have at getting to that start line in the best condition you can, both physically and mentally.

@innuendo141 amazing achievement on the Ultramarathon. Absolutely crazy. You happy? Quick post - thanks very much Tony. Yes, but I'm in quite a bad way. Wheels came off at 24m. Hardest thing I've ever done. I'm so sunburnt.

22m done (well 22.22m to be precise).
Pretty pleased, felt good.
3hr 28 so based on that, I'm looking at 4.10 which I'll be very pleased with.
(Given up on the 4hr dream now!).

Fair play Tony, 22m is a bastard of a distance. Really tough, that's brilliant. Enjoy the taper and mind your body. Listen to your body more than ever over the next week and a half.

I haven't been running so havent been spying on you Wow. Well done. I'd been struggling with my times. So over the moon with a PB. Admittedly it was a very flat course but you know, whatever helps.

I'm in absolute bits today. I've never raced as unprepared as I did yesterday. And never will again.

Another 15 mins off is about 7.15 a mile which is for mentalists only.
