I would reconfigure this album into a 10-track record with the following tracks. I would include The Hard Stuff even though initially it wasn't a standout for me, but it's a big grower and it's got a bit of Springsteen vibe going on that embodies the overall southern country sound he's going for and I'd drop either Supplies or Filthy to tighten it up. Not sure of the track sequencing but would maybe title it Midnight Summer Jam.

I really didn't like it much on an initial listen, but it has grown on me quite a bit.
I'd say you've made a pretty solid ten track album. The album is definitely over-long and could benefit from some culling. I would replace Supplies with Filthy on your list, and replace The Hard Stuff with the title track (I know its a bit corny, but it's catchy asf).

I always thought he was overrated as a singer and showman. Yet I liked some songs he sang to; i.e. 'Cry Me A River' and 'SexyBack'.

Actually I debated a bit whether or not to include Filthy in place of Supplies, and I agree that MOTW is catchy. I'm now at a point where I feel MOTW, Filthy and Supplies should all be included but would still like to keep it as a 10-track album. As of now I'll go with your suggestions. I even think a few tracks I label "duds" have redeeming elements in there sound. I'll go with this for now; Say Something Breeze Off The Pond Filthy Midnight Summer Jam Sauce Higher Higher Wave Montana Living Off The Land Man of The Woods

There's just something about this project that attracted me to it, where his others have left me cold. I always did like Sexyback, but never had much interest in anything else he did. I genuinely like all three of the singles, especially Su-ppli-i-ies. But to me the best song on the album is Sauce. It's just the right mix of quirky and funky. I'm loath to bring it up after last time, but Sauce actually reminds me of Van Hunt. You probably haven't heard of him Aaron, as he's a bit high-brow for you. Genuinely shocked/surprised with myself for enjoying this record as much as I do. I very seldom listen to anything by an artist or band under 40, I think the extent of my under-40s music catalogue is a few songs by The Weeknd and the odd Ed Sheeran song. So this is uncharted territory for me, and for it to be Justin Timberlake of all people... who am I and what have I done with MattyJam???

^Not buying it! This has got to be one giant Andy Kaufmanesque bit! At this point I'm even willing to believe Van Hunt is in on it.

So this is uncharted territory for me, and for it to be Justin Timberlake of all people... who am I and what have I done with MattyJam??? If you're punking my ass Andy Kaufman style then I might leave this board for a whole week! Seriously though, your enjoying this album aren't ya?! I'm all out hooked on this thing and find myself giving it a spin atleast once a day and then a few choice tracks when I can fit them in. I think its one of the best albums he's made. Also ranking this album alongside his others is interesting. It's better than Justified -at least to me it is- and much more interesting than the second 20/20 Experience album- 2 of 2. Supplies is top notch and a bit of a beast. And yeah actually, the first 3 singles; Filthy, Supplies and Say Something are all great and quite diverse imo too. I'm still not mad about 4th single Man of The Woods but it's catchy to a degree. Say Something is outstanding and Chris Stapleton gives it such an edge. I love how it starts on the 808's groove box thing and builds from the minimal opening into a duet and choir with that subtle brass flourish just over the piano and guitar. So are you gonna change your name to MidnightSummerJam?? It seems like this is your destiny! I made my own 10 track version on Spotify -just wanted to condense it down into a shorter time in which I could fit my absolute favourites in- but I still find myself leaning to the entire album. Some of the lesser album tracks set-up the bigger tracks beautifully. Su-ppli-i-ies.... Van Hunt we salute you!π

Honestly though, good on you for having an open mind to this album and giving it a few goes. I've only played the album about twice and the singles more times than that, and I feel it's a grower album. I really dig Midnight Summer Jam and Say Something came on when I was getting lunch today, I'm enjoying that a lot more than when I initially heard it.

I am very unknowledgeable and uncultured like that. After all, I listen to Justin Timberlake. Nope, I'm for real. I am aware I've done a complete 180 and that I come across somewhat schizophrenic if you read my posts from two weeks ago to now. Blame aazzaabb. It's all his fault.

"I like your pink, you like my purple" cringe! Michael Jackson thought white people's purple dicks were just wrong on many levels If you managed to like this album @mattyjam then you should definetely give FutureSexLoveSounds a spin....It's miles ahead of the current disc (IMO)

I may give FutureSex a go. I only really remember digging Sexyback out of the singles though. The others sounded a bit boyband-ish to me. I dig the new sound cuz it sounds a bit less radio friendly and less like it was made by the guy who used to be in N Sync.

Somebody leaked a phone conversation MJ had with someone where they're talking about how white people's dicks are purple. I'm pretty sure it's real and is somewhere on youtube, and it's not my imagination, although I do not know how to search for it.
